I remember an earthquake from my youth that caused my high school to close the central portion for re-hab for 3 years. It was centered in Arvin-Tehachapi about 150 miles south of us. My school wasn’t damaged, but after-quake inspections showed that it was not built to modern earthquake codes.
That quake woke us all up and broke some dishes, but it was much stronger — 7.2. We certainly felt it and suffered some damage 150 miles north. I would have thought that I might have felt some quivers even from a 4.2 because we are closer to Chicago.
Or, perhaps that is what woke me at 3:30-4:00 AM this morning, and I just wasn’t conscious of the reason.
(BTW, my school’s cafeteria/auditorium closing for 3 years is how I met my husband of 51 years. We used to gather around the same radiator waiting for the classrooms to open.)
Without the stimulus it would have been a 7.8.
There were two men back in the 70’s that were given visions of Chicago having a huge quake. A lot of people made it through the quake...however, the lake Chicago sits on poured into Chicago and wiped it completely out. So the rumblings have begun...how long before the big one depends on the prayers of the people in that area...through those prayers the people of The Lord can hold off the judgment for this area.
Massive snowstorms, earthquakes and tomorrow Iran will deliver a “punch”. Makes you wonder.
