Ritz-Carlton in Las Vegas to Close Down-(Blames Obama Directly!)

Luxury hotel bookings have declined across the United States following the so-called "AIG effect".

The term refers to the bad publicity surrounding insurance giant AIG's decision to fly executives to another resort in California after being offered bail-out money by the US government.

A Ritz-Carlton spokeswoman, Vivian Deuschl, said: "The whole demonisation of luxury meetings and companies pulling back on having their high-end meetings in luxury hotels – this has had a tremendous impact on Las Vegas.

"I can't think of another destination that has had to defend itself more against comments from politicians."

I’ve only stayed at the RC a couple of nights — I prefer Steve Wynn’s Encore Hotel. Everything about it is first class.

If you visit Las Vegas, do NOT miss Encore’s Spa. Unreal; it has waterfall showers.

The Cosmic Stupididty of this kind of class warfare rhetoric is hard to over-state.

What do “rich” people do with their money? One of three things.

1) They buy things. This includes services. Boats. Expensive cars. Vacations. Houses. The things they buy are manufactured or supplied by — people. Every single damn penny spent on a yacht PAYS somebody to build it, equip it, sell it, or berth and service it.

2) They make investments. This forms capital that is used to hire people. (Where, geographically, is a different issue.) Investments fund the true source of employment: business. Some investments go to mortgage funds, some to stocks, but it all goes somewhere to go to work and earn the investor even more from return. Rush often says poor people don’t create employment for others.

3) Some very few probably have a giant vault, like Scrooge McDuck, where they hoard their money, and push it around with a small ‘dozer like Scrooge does. But these people are very rare in real life, and mostly exist only in the dim concepts of liberals.

Yep, that one NEVER made any sense. I understand that they wanted a different crowd than the regular Vegas crowd, but that doesn’t work in Vegas. The Venetian, Bellagio and Steve Wynn’s hotels are every bit as nice as the Ritz (I’ve never been to the Ritz in Vegas, but I’ve stayed in them a lot of other places), the Ritz had no real appeal.

Get into the spirit of Badcrack Obamao’s philosophy, and have the meetings in abandoned, public housing.

I have had a couple of medical meetings there and the physical plant is fantastic. I should hae known that there was huge problems when I could have bought a 2 bedroom condo within yards of the hotel for $124k

I’m glad they are placing the blame on Obummer, and applaud them for it. Maybe it will open a few eyes. To my knowledge Obummer has trashed Vegas twice now, and although the economy (his fault, too) has contributed to the decline, he delivered the coupe de grace.

Frying pan to fire alert! He would have to take Gaffe Boy and the Wicked Scarf Queen with him. Who does that leave? The Hilldebeast?
