London, England (CNN) -- Bindi Dupouy, an Australian living in Paris, and her French husband, just had their first child, a son born in the country.
Dupouy, a 28-year-old lawyer, got almost five months paid maternity leave from her company for the birth. She can take another seven months off beyond that -- a year total -- unpaid, if she wants, with her job guaranteed under French law.
When her son Louis was born, healthy and by way of a normal delivery, she got to stay in her local French hospital, around the corner from where she lives, for five full days, to rest.

What you want to encourage, you subsidize.
Obviously France wants babies.

It is stories like these that make me think we should support taxpayer-financed one way plane tickets to France (or any other such place) for anyone in the USA who might want them.

Thank you.
I love France and have been there many times, but,....they’re still full of “cheese” when it comes to the reality of the post WW11 era with the Islamization of Europe.
Read the latest issue of:
http://www.theatheistconservative.com/ to understand the perfidy of the French and British. Europe as we know it will be a goner soon.

I will say this...after having been through several parts of France. First...if you go through Paris or any town over 100k in population...it’s not worth talking about.
Second, if you go to small villages of 500 people...you tend to find alot of friendly folks and a fair amount of pro-American feeling...doesn’t matter what part of the country you tour through.
Third, farm regions are probably the best areas to stop for a meal and enjoy the company of the locals.
There are friendlier folks in Europe...that I will agree. But the French are a different breed when you start talking metropolitan types. I wouldn’t waste more than eight hours in Paris...and get out of town as quickly as possible.

There are some Americans who visited Normandy who might disagree. There are some Americans (like me) who have visited Paris and Toulouse, and very much disagree. You'd have to put a gun to my head or pay me eight figures to live in France.

The article makes it sound like a very nice place to live if you aren't all that interested in working because of the long medical leaves, long vacations and strolls along the Seine or lingering for hours over a meal.
It's probably not so good if you are one of the people who actually has to work and pay taxes for the lifestyle.

Can't beat living in the land of magic ‘Obama money’.
Free this and free that. It all comes from the goodness pot.
Most of us live our whole lives without freebies. Can you imagine a society that can spare workers, men, women, etc. for five weeks at a crack. Only a lib at the trough would be stupid enough to think this can be afforded.

This article is nothing new. One of these comes out about once a year espousing the greatness of living in France. All these articles are the same too; they talk about all the ‘give aways’ and ‘programs’, but never, NEVER, talk about how those programs and give aways are paid for.

Fortunately she has a job. A woman trying to find a job is a tougher situation. Who wants to hire someone that might take a year off and has to bring her back to the same job?
Nothing gets said in the job interview. All the interviewer has to do is see that the applicant is a woman and her odds of getting the job drop, unless there are no other takers.

The first rule of economics is that there is no free lunch. Somebody has to pay for all these nice services and it is the average French taxpayer. I like France and visited several times, but the average Frenchman does not have quite the same standard of living as their counterparts in the US. Middle class homes in the US would be large by French standards and having two automobiles is rare. French bureaucracy puts the US DMV to shame and small business owners have a very tough time between taxes and union work rules. France is a nice place to visit, but unless Obama gets re-elected I wouldn’t consider moving there.

Almost all of my French experience has been living with their military in small towns and villages, in places like Dieuze (pop 3600 today), Valdahon (pop 3200 back then), and places too small to mention. I like the French fine and I like their pace and quality of life, it would be a good place to retire to.

Modern Germany is about the most anti-military place in the world...much more so than France or anywhere else in Europe for that matter. France has a LOT more to fear from the Muslims within, than Germans (or Dutch, or Spanish, or Italian, or Belgian) without...
