I can see that these guys are not well liked on FR. I think that I really did screw up. I will back away from the keyboard for a while!

A second “Contract with America” which is a carefully chosen subset of tenets generally held to be conservative might be a winning theme in the campaigns of the next three years. There isn’t and shouldn’t be any one “Conservative Manifesto.”

The people currently involved might not be well liked, but can’t somebody take the torch and run with it? I suggested a second Contract with America about a week ago and didn’t get any static over it.

I do understand your point and in normal times when dealing with normal situations, this would be a reasonable way to approach the task at hand. Unfortunately, the times are unusual, the situation is way beyond normal, and the main tool used by the opposition is manipulation of information. Structuring the conservative movement will do more harm than good, because it gives the opposition a set of guidelines to work with in manipulating the “narrative” and confusing the honest folks. Conservatives are on the same page. We all know what we want. We don’t need to give the opposition any more to work with than they already have. Further, the loose structure allows for diversity which is extremely useful in keeping this movement in forward motion. Take the “Scott Brown” situation. It is now defined as a victory. But prior to the election, many conservatives were screaming “RINO”. Had conservatives all been on one page...either the “rino” crowd would have had to compromise, or the strict conservatives would have had to compromise, but in any case, someone would be the loser, and the situation could have had a very different outcome. It was successful because Scott Brown was TRUSTED to handle his own affairs, but he was GIVEN RESOURCES to do what he needed to do, and as a result, he won, MA won, the TEA party movement won, conservatives won, and Republicans won. Scott Brown will advocate for his people, not for Washington, and that is what we need. Maybe he won’t agree with my representative, but that is okay-—as long as MY representative agrees with MY STATE. That is what is suppose to be happening in this REPUBLIC.

WE HAVE TO THINK OUTSIDE THE BOX IF WE ARE GOING TO TAKE THIS SITUATION UNDER CONTROL. AND I DO MEAN TAKE.

We definitely need a revised, upgraded Contract with Americans, put together by respected leaders. Newt did this right once before. Others should be a part of it.
