Americans still need to know the whole truth about ACORN and Obama
RenewAmerica ^ | Jan. 5, 2010 | Michael Gaynor

Truth must trump spin by both ACORN and Obama advocates and critics for the subversive nature of ACORN and its sinister relationship with President Obama to become generally appreciated by the American people. That is essential to stop the implementation of the radical political agenda of ACORN. Showing the contemptible criminal tendencies of some ACORN employees was nice, but obviously did not suffice. It will be small solace for ACORN critics if ACORN is de-funded and dissolved, but its radical political agenda is implemented. That would be winning a battle, but losing the war.

In October 2008 The New York Times killed an Obama/ACORN expose, fearing it would be an election "game changer," and ABC and CNN did not want to go there either.

Beginning September 10, 2009, the "Pimp and Pro" ACORN story has been extensively reported by Fox News and Andrew Breitbart's BigGovernment.com, but not by the alphabet networks and the liberal media establishment.

On December 22, 2009, the Congressional Research Service issued a report on ACORN to the House Judiciary Committee (http://judiciary.house.gov/hearings/pdf/CRS-ACORN091222.pdf) and the reporting on it, like the reporting on the "Pimp and Pro" ACORN story, has been fundamentally flawed.

Dana Loesch, "It's A Wrap: The Most Underreported Stories of 2009," at www.biggovernment.com (http://biggovernment.com/2010/01/01/the-most-underreported-stories-of-2009/#more-54262):

"Only in America can you offer to help smuggle in underage sex workers as part of your description as a taxpayer-funded 'community organizer' and still get federal dollars after the scandal breaks. James O'Keefe and Hannah Giles exposed ACORN for what it truly is: a malignancy that consumes the life out of depressed areas that it never, ever improves, ever, all in the name of making residents dependent upon the teat of government welfare so as to exploit them for votes later 'neighborhood organizing.'

"Michael Walsh explains the rep[e]rcussions of the dynamic duo's work: 'The Senate voted 83-7 in favor of de-funding the controversial group. The House voted 345-75 to cut ACORN's funding, and more than 20 states have demanded either a full investigation of ACORN or that they lose their funding. The IRS also ended up cutting their connections to the group.'

"Despite all of this, Big Government wrote how after this egregious corruption, Democrats like Roland Burris still found a way to push for continued ACORN funding by slipping a provision requiring such in Harry Reid's senate fauxcare bill."

Janie Lorber, "Report Finds Acorn Broke No Laws" (December 23, 2009)

(http://thecaucus.blogs.nytimes.com/2009/12/23/acorn-broke-no-laws/):

The gist of Lorber's article is that ACORN is really the victim it pretends to be, not a subversive, corrupt, criminal enterprise that has functioned illegally for years as an unofficial arm of the Democrat Party.

In sharp contrast, Capital Research Center's Matthew Vadum, in "CRS Report On ACORN Is Nonsense" (December 27, 2009) (http://www.capitalresearch.org/blog/2009/12/27/crs-report-on-acorn-is-nonsense/), wittingly, but totally, rejected the Congressional Research Service report.

Vadum:

"Apparently Congressional Research Service employees are as good at research as ACORN employees are at registering voters.

"Not surprisingly, the new Congressional Research Service report on ACORN continues the Democrats' coverup of President Obama's favorite advocacy group.

Probably important to note the hypocrisy of ACORN.

Despite its ardent public support of higher wages and union membership for all workers, ACORN has made repeated attempts to block the unionization of its own workforce while paying below-minimum-wage salaries to its employees. In addition to the extensive union-busting detailed by the NLRB (see Appendix A), ACORN unsuccessfully sued the state of California to be exempted from the minimum wage. In its appeal of that suit, ACORN argued that the reduction in the number of employees resulting from the minimum wage would violate its First Amendment rights. ACORN’s claims were labeled “absurd” by the presiding judge (see Appendix B).

Unfortunately, law and logic seem to be subjugated on both sides when it comes to ACORN and Obama.

Why do I have this nagging feeling that the Progressives/Communists snuck the money into the HUD appropriation in the hope that it would not be detected?

I can’t get enough of this! They nailed ACORN so good.

ACORN union busting

Did you know that ACORN is a subsidiary of the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) for which recent Obama nominee to the National Labor Relations Board is the primary attorney?

Go to this link to see all the SEIU subsidiaries:
http://centerforinvestigativereporting.org/files/flash/seiu.html

The SEIU is presently STRANGLING every employer from coast to coast by forcing them to join a union (them) or “suffer the consequences”. The consequences involve harassment of employees at their homes and shameful public smear campaigns
carried out right in front of the employer claining horrible things about the employer, none of which are true.

The dues the conscripted employees are made to pay go into the SEIU coffers and then are paid out in the form of campaign funding for every favorite “progressive” democrat candidate that is running for election anywhere for any position within a certain mile radius of the particular SEIU local office.

It is no accident that the head of the SEIU, Andy Stern, was the most frequent visitor to the Obama White House in 2009.

I posted about this Jan. article on ACORN because it’s the article tied to renewed interest in ACORN (by conservatives on the Hill and concerned citizens?) that Molly Hennegan reported on in the last news segment on FOX News in the 6 o’clock news hour EST this evening.

The problem with A(SS)CORN is that if you kill it, it will pop up somewhere else under a different name. One liberalism becomes entrenched, it becomes very hard to kill. But it’s a fight that we have to engage.

That this ACORN slime could have become so powerful in America is a terrible thing. This country has been attacked from within for at least 100 years by so called “Progressives” in both political Parties.

In the coming elections we may put the brakes on the degeneration of America by kicking that radical Democratic scum to the curb. Then the problem becomes having control over the Republicans who are elected.

I have as much contempt for Bush, McCain and the rest of those left leaning Republicans as I have for Obama and his filthy associates. They are all responsible for the fix we are in today.

ACORN'S DEMOCRAT VOTE-BUYING MACHINE

Clinton pictured above with ACORN founder Wade Rathke.
The tax-exempt Clinton Foundation had just donated $250,000 to ACORN.

=================================================

BACKSTORY The tax-exempt Clinton Foundation also provided $275,000 in tax-exempt grants supposedly for ACORNS’S "Katrina Benefits Access project" and ACORN'S "Operation Hope Project; Restore Hope." The tax-exempt Clinton Foundation also helped secure "private sector" commitments for ACORN.

JUST WONDERING Can ACORN produce records on how they spent the money? Oh, nevermind. The IRS, SEC, FBI, Congress and the GAO can find out (/snic).

============================================

The IRS has pinpointed tax-exempts and non-profits as the locus classicus for money laundering and tax evasion (stolen money is taxable). The biggest frauds are tax-exempts writing checks to other tax-exempts---the way these "altruistic do-gooders" siphon off, then launder, tax-free monies for themselves.

The Rathkes embezzled millions from ACORN --- but their activities offshore gives rise to concerns about massive govt fraud and money laundering.

Since 1970, ACORN has organized in 1,200 neighborhood chapters in 110 cities across the US and in cities in Canada, Mexico, the Dominican Republic, Peru, Argentina and India.

ACORN also appears to have been involved in improper use of pension funds ..... some of the Rathke embezzlment was apparently taken from the pension fund using ACORN's American Express card. This displacement of funding led to the creation of a complex repayment system in which accused embezzler Dale Rathke owed ACORN, and ACORN in turn, owed ABA, which, for its part, wrote off part of the money. (Excerpt) Read more at spectator.org ...

ACORN receives funding from a variety of tax-exempt private charitable organizations: the Bauman Family Foundation, George Soros' Open Society Institute, the Charles Stewart Mott Foundation and from corporate foundations, including JP Morgan Chase Foundation, Ben & Jerry's foundation, Bank of America Charitable Foundation, and Citigroup, as well as the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, the Ford Foundation, and tax-exempt foundations affiliated with the founder of (UPS). (NPR: ACORN's Money Tree Has Many Branches, October 15, 2008).

A full list of ACORN and ACORN affiliate donors is available from the Capital Research Center, a non-profit organization which studies political advocacy groups. (Foundation Watch, 2008: Capital Research Center Cracks the ACORN)
