Wyoming residents could carry concealed guns without a state permit under a bill that advanced in the Legislature on Thursday with a 52-6 vote in the House of Representatives.

Under existing Wyoming law, people must obtain a state-issued permit to carry a concealed weapon. The state requires training and background checks and has issued more than 10,000 of the permits.

Forty-eight states allow people to carry concealed weapons and all but Alaska and Vermont require permits. Legislation is pending in Arizona that would allow people to carry concealed guns without a permit.

Rep. Lorraine Quarberg, R-Thermopolis, is the main sponsor of House Bill 113. It now heads to the House Judiciary Committee.

"It's a good idea for anybody in the United States, not just in Wyoming, because it basically solidifies and codifies and affirms our Second Amendment right, and allows us to protect ourselves," Quarberg said after the House vote.

If this passes there will be blood in the streets. It will be like the wild west and the OK Corral. People will settle all their differences with firearms. There will probably be 13 children per day dying at the barrel end of guns.

If you don’t believe this, just go to Vermont and Alaska to see for yourself! /s

We have a MPLS cop, a SWAT team member, that has committed more crimes with a gun, than ALL legal permit holders, combined. Ever.

With the trend being what it is, gun grabbers must be using up duct tape, to keep their heads from exploding, at a prodigous rate.

Texas recently finally allowed folks to have concealed weapons in their vehicles, no license or permit required. Now, that has always been the law, but the law required that one be "traveling", without defining the term. The term has now been defined as "going somewhere" even down to the community mailbox because you are too lazy to walk. Also it's been changed from a "defense to prosecution" to an exemption from the general prohibition. IOW, they made the conduct no longer a crime at all. Some local DAs were going to prosecute anyway, until they did that. Houston for example.

As I mentioned in my post on the Wyoming Firearm Freedom thread (here: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2448192/posts) The Wyoming legislature is in a budget session. This requires a 2/3’s majority vote for any non-budget bill to even be introduced. This pill was introduced with a 52 - 6 vote. The main sponsor (Quarberg) is the Majority Whip, who is a strong conservative.

The biggest negative facing this bill in the House is that it was referred to the Judiciary committee where the chairman is a RINO from Jackson; Chairman Gingery did vote yes on the floor, but voted no for the Firearms Freedom bill. Also two of the six no votes on the floor are on this committee. Fortunately, Representative Quarberg (the Majority Whip) is also on the committee. Hopefully she can put enough pressure on Gingery to get it through committee. This is a short session though (only 4 weeks), so the bill only has until the 23rd to get out of committee and pass three separate votes on the floor. Gingery may have used a yes vote on the floor to provide cover for killing it in committee.

Neither of the bills are currently on the committee’s schedule. Gingery is ‘too busy’ discussing mandatory savings accounts for inmates and state funded civil suits to bring up these bills.

That's right. It's a shame that the plain wording of the Constitution needs solidifying, codifying and affirming. But there it is.
