Kd Lang Hallelujah, Canadian pop music royalty shone brightly tonight at the opening ceremonies for the 21st Winter Olympics in Vancouver, Canada. Canadian technical prowess, not so much.

kd lang is a "drag king" (as opposed to the "drag queens" we are more familiar with). Her voice is said to be similar to that of
castrati from earlier musical eras.
I'm just thankful for recorded music. I can listen to her without having to look at her.

I’ve heard her version on youtube...she does do a good job w/the song. I showed it to my 21 year old (he’d never heard of her) and he couldn’t believe she was a woman, LOL.

I hate to burst bubbles, but according to Leonard Cohen, the song is about having sexual intercourse.

I like the Leonard Cohen tune hallelujah. I call it a spiritual song for atheists and those who don’t attend services, ever
Leonard Cohen has written and sung many great tunes but Hallelujah alone would redeem him

Last Summer I saw Michael McDonald at Bass Hall here in Fort Worth, and he sang “Hallelujah” alone on stage with his piano. It was pretty powerful.
If you ever get a chance to see someone you like at Bass Hall, GO. It is one of the best venues ever for a great vocalist.

I was pleasantly surprised to see k.d. Lang performing last night. She’s one of the best singers of all time.

One of the most beautiful versions of the song was sung by the "Canadian Tenors" who were on Oprah earlier this week. They were surprised by Celine Dion who joined them.

"...Earlier in the ceremonies top Canadian pop stars Nelly Furtado and Bryan Adams..."
Okay give them credit. At least they didn't call them rock stars. Nelly Furtado is a joke. Has Canada ever produced a real rock star outside of Robby Robertson. And please don't say Neil Young, another pretender. It's strange that the US & UK produce rock stars glore but Canada with essentially the same DNA doesn't do anything or next to nothing. Hell, Australia does better than Canada. Always look to Canada for mediocre talent. Stick to POP stars Canada and leave rock to the adults.
