we dropped Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas because of the constant rate increase every month after i used it. this sector is out of control and greedy beyond any reason.

I suppose the California legislature may be able to dictate to Anthem Blue Cross how much to charge but can they dictate to them to keep doing business in California?

In Wisconsin, after 6 years of paying NOTHING for Anthem Medicare supplement insurance (their cut was our agreement that 100% of our government Medicare allowance was turned over to them) this year we suddenly are getting $40 per month bills — EACH. 0 premium to $80 per couple per month. What percentage increase is that?

Insurance companies are their own worst enemies.

They create huge public demand for institutional reform when they pull stunts like this, which cause our idiot politicians to embrace such disasters as Bambi-care ensuring that not only will they (insurance co.s) be killed off, but the health care industry as well.

Are they trying to get themselves run out of business in favor of government insurance? There is no need to increase premiums by 35%. We desperately need to get rid of the anti-trust exemptions and open up every market to competition. If Anthemn Blue Cross had to compete against several different other companies, they wouldn’t pull this kinda shite.

Maybe. -But all the other companies selling similar products are higher already in California. Rate increases suck, but nobody was complaining when Blue Cross of California almost went out of business over 20 years ago.

Aren’t they, in essence, taking a bet on the entire coming year when they do this? Methinks Anthem’s crystal ball sees lots more illegales with possible amnesty, along with rampant inflation. If they only had to quote one month at a time they might be more moderate.

We really need inter-state competition.

[this sector is out of control and greedy beyond any reason]

The health Syndicate? Yep. It was commonly recognized at the Tea Parties that insurance reform is needed.

Not surprising at all the Insurance Syndicate was a huge contributor to Obamacare - which would make it illegal not to buy their product...

It is what it is:

>>Insurance companies are their own worst enemies.

Insurance companies invest in phamaceutical companies, pharmaceutical companies pay the doctors to prescribe the product... that the consumer needs Insurance companies to pay for. Hmmm.

A lovely little symbiotic relationship.

Nothing to see there. Move along and take your Glucophage, citizen.
