Skip to comments.Jones: Return Rate of Terrorists to Battlefield is 'Never Going to Be Zero' (WOW!)

President Obama's national security adviser, defended his deputy on Sunday, saying he's glad John Brennan is on his side and he agrees with his assessment that the United States can't stop 100 percent of captured terrorists from returning to the field.
Gen. Jim Jones defended Brennan, the president's top counterterrorism adviser, after Brennan on Saturday compared the U.S. criminal recidivism rate of 50 percent to the one in five terrorists who are released to other nations and return to the battlefield.
"Twenty percent isn't that bad," Brennan said.
Jones said the United States has to make sure to do the best it can, but it's unrealistic to think no terrorist allowed to go free won't return to battle.
"It's never going to be zero," Jones said on "Fox News Sunday." "We have a long history of having convicted terrorist in federal courts, locking them up for many, many years and doing the best we can, but zero is not going to be the standard in which we try to achieve it."
But Brennan's argument is "mindboggling and unnerving" to Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., who said he's lost confidence in Brennan's ability to keep the United States safe.

Gee. I can think of a way to get it down to zero, and I never even went to Harvard.
Wow. It is a good thing people like Gen. Jones weren’t running things during World War 2. We’d still be fighting the Nazis to this day if he had.
So should the families of American troops that are killed/injured hire attorneys to sue these two idiots for KNOWINGLY sending terrorist to kill their loved ones?
Yes you can. Ready, Aim, Bang!!!!
I’ve heard of WiFi but this WhyTry attitude is just
To aim for O percent and not make it is one thing,
to aim for 20 percent is another.
These are the same people who refuse to secure our borders.
I think that lawsuit practically writes itself.
If you but pull them apart, they don’t self-assemble.
They are in civilian clothing and fighting, they are called spies, and they should be shot. No dead person is ever a recidivist.
It isn't acceptable either.....
.....ZERO PERCENT is acceptable, that means either keep them at Guantanamo or quietly execute them (after they have spilled their guts to the interrogators).
I would tend to believe that it is very bad for those who are killed by one of those twenty per cent. They are no less dead; their children are no less orphans; their wives/husbands are no less widows/widowers.
I am kinda dense on this, so, can someone tell me how this is a good thing, or not a bad thing for those that are killed?
If it were up to me, it would be zero!
The same method occurred to me as well.
I haven't seen evidence that Harvard is producing students of any quality for quite some time now.
Not too hard to figure out a way to get it to zero and it wouldn’t be too expensive either.
During the Battle of the Bulge, Germans who infiltrated American lines in American uniforms, many of whom voluntarily surrendered without doing any harm, were court-martialed and summarily executed. None of them returned to the battlefield. None. Zero. Nada.
“I can think of a way to get it down to zero, and I never even went to Harvard.”
You and I must have gone to the same school then, because that was my first thought too.
Yep, I can think of way to take care of a whole box, I mean 50 of them for under 10 dollars.
Brennan and Gen. Jim Jones should be dismissed immediately, on simple grounds of mental incompetence.
They compare the recidivism rates of jailbirds released in the US with the return of terrorists to the battlefield. There are some important differences. Duh!
1. We have no control over released convicts here, because when their sentences are up, they are almost always released, and we have no choice. We do have a choice in the case of captive terrorists, because they are not only enemy combatants, but war criminals. We are not obliged to release any of them until this war is over: and that means in practice that we can keep them locked up for the duration, even if it is for their lifetimes. Keeping the Guantanamo inmates locked up for ever is a very good thing.
2. A release convict from a US prison usually is not a mass killer with a worldwide organization providing him with resources.
Gen. Jim Jones is a complete dope, and a yes-man for 0 and his radical friends. This case alone is a good reason to throw out 0 and his supporters as soon as possible.
The children are running the asylum.
Might be a good bumper sticker in there...
Ready, Aim BANG!”
Jones: That war on terror thing? You’re doing it wrong.
I will volunteer to load for you.
That Jones is pathetic. He is a good example of promoting someone above their level of competency.
No question why Hussein put him in the job - so Hussein can control him. What a travesty to perpetrate on America.
Sure you can.
Don’t capture terorists and bring them in, Kill em all on the spot.
End of problem.
If you bring them in they will be back trying to kill our Heros.
I went to a high priced school, and I know how to reduce the return rate to zero.
Using my solution “there ain’t no coming back”.
The best part, you can do it for under a nickle.
See my tagline. There Mr. Brennan, what’s the next problem?
An early brochure, published in 1643, justified the College's existence: "To advance Learning and perpetuate it to Posterity; dreading to leave an illiterate Ministery [sic] to the Churches " Harvard's early motto was Veritas Christo et Ecclesiae "Truth for Christ and the Church." In a directive to its students, it laid out the purpose of all education: "Let every Student be plainly instructed, and earnestly pressed to consider well, the maine end of his life and studies is, to know God and Jesus Christ which is eternall life, Joh. 17. 3. and therefore to lay Christ in the bottome, as the only foundation of all sound knowledge and Learning.
It has gone to hell since then I would say.
this reminds me of paroles in the War of Northern Agression
which is why the Federals quit doing it unless they had no choice
Very astute observation.
What THEN should we DO with “enemy combatants”?
If we are IN A WAR, & WE WANT TO WIN....
I can think of 2 things.... right off the top of my head..
everyone together NOW,
2. Incarcerate until WAR IS OVER.
3. If war takes “too long” revert to #1.
4. Make exceptions to #3 if the Combatant demonstrates “high value” by providing valuable information.
Now that wasn’t all that tough, was it?????
See, the problem is, that the liberals/demoncrats DON'T WANT to solve any problems. Cuz, when the problem is solved, what do THEY have to do??? So, they keep the problem going and going and going and going and going......
It would be if we killed every stinking one of them.
No kidding! Wow, that mission statement is so far from what Harvard is now that it looks almost like a joke from the Onion or something.
