Sure. Export our rackets...er, building codes and land use regulations to Haiti. Then a flood of worthy folks from the US ‘burbs can replace the Haitians. Hmmm. Actually, that might be a good way to go. Send all of our busybody, rich, corporate, socialist neighbors there. If they come back again, we can arrange trips to Venus for them.
Oh, and for the maroons, tropical trees aren’t very good sources of lumber.
“Cause George Bush hates black people.”
Ding! Ding! Ding!
We have a winner!
I received an email recently that was eye opening. It said all the things we had been taught about getting ‘under’ tables, doorways, etc, were wrong.
This was an engineer who had dealt with the after effects of earthquakes. He wrote that anyone UNDER large things or even in a car are crushed by the weight.
You are supposed to lie down between large things, even lie down beside your car. These are ‘pockets’ that are formed and you are more apt to survive.

Comparisons to the Dominican Republic are devasting
Haiti is Stone Age minus
I know, but that wasn’t my point devolve. He said even children hiding under their school desks are more apt to be killed. Better to lie in the aisle between the desks.
It makes sense if you think about it.
.
Yes -
The TV media actually used to tell people to stand under door arches
Yes, I wrote ‘doorways’.
no building codes to speak of and high density pop
and big quake
and much of it on an alluvial plain which is worse than rock for ground agitation
actually I was partially incorrect...lots of damage up on the rocky heights too
.
Haiti is a sump built on a dump
Populated by dumpers
Or a bump built on a hump of a bump......
