MARJAH, Afghanistan (AP) — Some American and Afghan troops say they're fighting the latest offensive in Afghanistan with a handicap — strict rules that routinely force them to hold their fire.

Although details of the new guidelines are classified to keep insurgents from reading them, U.S. troops say the Taliban are keenly aware of the restrictions.

"I understand the reason behind it, but it's so hard to fight a war like this," said Lance Cpl. Travis Anderson, 20, of Altoona, Iowa. "They're using our rules of engagement against us," he said, adding that his platoon had repeatedly seen men drop their guns into ditches and walk away to blend in with civilians.

O-BMF doesn’t want to be too hard on his Muslim buddies.

These are the new Obama rules: Protect the enemy, the h^*l with our troops.

Under Bush the rules were: Protect the troops and the h^*l with the enemy.

What a difference — Obama is putting our troops in harms way and hamstrings them.

Obama is re-creating the handcuff rules that gave North Vietnam the victory....little things like forbidding bombing North Vietnam, forbidding blocking the North’s shipping harbors...despite the ok for massive bombing and chemical use inside South Vietnam.

South Vietnam was on our side, so we bomb it.
North Vietnam was the enemy, so we did not bomb it.

Makes sense only to a Liberal or someone insane.

“Makes sense only to a Liberal or someone insane.”

I think that’s redundant.

Obama never said he wants victory against the enemy, so he is throwing obstacles in front of our soldiers...

What’s the difference between an enemy fighter and an “innocent civilian”?
He dropped his weapon.

Every time they salute Jack Squat, they not only embolden him further, they approve of his policies, to include the changed ROEs. Just my opinion which is probably fraked, but its how I feel about Jack Squat.

The US government wants victory in Afghanistan, like your credit card company wants you to pay off your card balance

You can’t win a war this way.
