Yes, it is possible to form a bubble of SLIGHTLY warmer air in the very center of an igloo. It’s also possible to form a bubble of slightly warmer air around your body in a 70 degree house.

I think igloos are temporary structures. A new one gets built every few days. I think if any new one was built at least 100 yards towards the equator, eventually its occupants would be in Miami, and the igloo would be unnecessary.

And at night, the subfreezing temperature will make the ice even harder. So its a pretty good winter dwelling. The temperatures should stay above freezing inside even during the most inhospitable conditions.
