US seeks to rally Arabs against Iran's nuclear project

President Barack Obama has launched a wave of high-stakes US diplomacy in the Middle East as Washington seeks to ratchet up pressure on Iran over its nuclear program.

Obama has enlisted his top deputies in the diplomatic drive to isolate Tehran and impose stricter sanctions on the regime, with Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, chief military officer Admiral Mike Mullen and senior diplomats travelling to the region this week and Vice President Joe Biden due next month.

Clinton signaled the administration's tougher tone during a visit to the Gulf, warning on Monday that Iran was turning into a “military dictatorship” bent on building a nuclear bomb.

Seeking to build international support, Clinton travelled to Riyadh in a bid to press Saudi leaders to use their influence with China to secure sanctions against Iran.

She said during a visit to Qatar that Washington wanted to see fresh sanctions that “will be particularly aimed at those enterprises controlled by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, which we believe is in effect supplanting the government of Iran.”

The United States, which has vowed to systematically target firms linked to the powerful military force, last week imposed new penalties against companies with alleged ties to the Guard and is pushing for more UN Security Council sanctions.

Clinton's stern language was in stark contrast to the administration's earlier attempts at dialogue with Tehran and coincided with US commanders discussing military cooperation with Gulf states anxious over Iran's arsenal of missiles and uranium enrichment work.

Analysts said new sanctions were unlikely to force Tehran to drop its nuclear ambitions but could succeed in delaying and complicating Iran's efforts.

To the Proud: Know that the great counter-revolution insurgency is going well against the mullahs and will ultimately prevail. Know that Iran will not build nukes, because...well, just because. Know that your leader, Hillary, will take care of the whole thing along with our allies, the Saudis. We need to keep oil prices down in order to get every last dollar from the declining debt-for-imports economy.

To the Humble: Sunnis and Shiites have worked together and will work together against us. Iran and China are thick as thieves. Due to our leaders, and moreso, their favorite constituents who control them, the nukes will fly. Know that our oligarchs excuse their actions by wanting the world population to equal that of the Renaissance. It’s just a matter of time. Become more self-sufficient every month, until interesting times arrive.

US offer: "Support us, and you will never get nuclear weapons."

Iran's offer: "Support us, and you can get nuclear technology from us if you want."

There must be a ton of additional carrots in the US offer to match the Iran's offer, especially when other Arab states are moving in nuclear direction on their own (Egypt, Syria, who knows who else?) And there is Israel too.

Turn the entire middle east into a radioactive dead zone for at least a century — or else that region will not only never have peace, but those religious fanatics will export nuclear war worldwide.
