McCain and Hayworth: Tale of the Tape
American Thinker ^ | February 16, 2010 | Randall Hoven

Who is more conservative -- John McCain, or his primary rival, J.D. Hayworth? Hayworth officially announced his candidacy for the Senate on Monday. The Arizona Republic reported that

McCain has been portraying Hayworth as one of the big-spending Republicans who, during President George W. Bush's two terms, largely squandered the party's reputation for fiscal discipline.

Both men have served in Congress for multiple terms. J.D. Hayworth was in the House of Representatives from 1995 to 2007. Their voting records have been scored. So who is more conservative?

My parents were both born and raised in AZ. I too was raised in Arizona. I’ve seen the whole career of both of these men.

McCain’s problems are:

(1) He wants bi-partisanship which is a noble goal, but he never comes out ahead on his compromise deals. The McCain-Feingold Act is a good case in point. That legislation doesn’t have enough teeth, although it passed, it did nothing to stop Obama from accepting a lot of FOREIGN money into his Presidential campaign coffers

(2) Too often, his votes are based on what is “right” from a poitical perspective, but they go against his own morals or ethics. His constituents lose respect for him when this happens.

(3) I think that McCain’s current membership on the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR) must cloud his judgement

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Council_on_Foreign_Relations#Board_of_directors

(4) I CANNOT understand, nor will I EVER understand or agree with the statement McCain made to a distressed voter late in the campaign season who said that Obama is an Arab which was, “I have to tell you he [Obama] is a decent person and a person that you do not have to be scared [of] as president of the United States ... I admire Senator Obama and his accomplishments.”

I no longer live in AZ. If I did, Even though I admire John McCain for all of the service he’s given to this country, I would be sorely tempted to vote for Hayworth for Senator this time around.

John McCain is a renegade RINO. ANYBODY is better than the catastrophe who lost us the White House and helped put a Marxist Muslim in the Presidency through his arrogance, stupidity and failure to run an aggressive campaign.

“He’s a good family man” McCain said, rebuking his supporters who were more critical of Obama than HE was.

I HATE John McCain.

I remember back in 2004 when rumors about John Kerry wanting John McCain to run with him and I remember McCain not saying much about it at the time and shrugging it off or denying it. I remember in 2007 when McCain was asked about it again he denied those rumors. Then Hannity interviewed him in 2008 when he pretty much had the primary win in the bag, McCain said pretty clear to Sean that “Well everyone knows that John Kerry asked me to be his running mate in 2004 and I said no.” And Sean just let it go, and didn’t fire back.

McCain will be in his element attacking a Conservative Republican. He has reached across the aisle one too many times.

Please, no more pictures. That woman needs to eat - a lot!!

I’m definately in favor of JD Hayworth here, but I’m a bit concerned about the ACU giving McCain a rating above 80. The guy’s a liberal, for cryin’ out loud!

put him in 32nd place in the 2008 Senate, or in the top 32%.

The top 32% in 2008 would put McCain almost in the Democratic caucus.
