Bayh: DC is 'brain-dead'
NY Post ^ | February 17, 2010 | GEOFF EARLE

WASHINGTON -- Retiring Sen. Evan Bayh yesterday denounced "brain-dead partisanship" in Congress, saying the pettiness and focus on personal gain are keeping the institution in a state of dysfunction.

"There's just too much brain-dead partisanship, tactical maneuvering for short-term political advantage rather than focusing on the greater good, and also just strident ideology," the Indiana Democrat told ABC News, a day after stunning the political world by announcing he won't seek re-election.

"The extremes of both parties have to be willing to accept compromises from time to time to make some progress, because some progress for the American people is better than nothing, and all too often recently, we've been getting nothing," he said.

Bayh is ignoring a fundamental point. The RATs had a super majority and still couldn’t pass many of their socialist pieces of legislation. That wasn’t due to the ineffectual OP(formerly the GOP). The people prevented the RATs from furthering their agenda by speaking out.

Bayh has signed on to every lousy piece of crap generated by Obozo. Now he is whining.

The only reason he is whining is because he would have lost his seat in Indiana.

He knows the public here is hurting from the passage of bad policy. He also knows that he cannot run on being a centrist type anymore.

He has been exposed.

Thank goodness for those 'extremists' who don't accept 0bamacare. Good riddance, Bayh.

accept compromises from time to time to make some progress, because some progress for the American people is better than nothing

Spoken like a true PROGRESSIVE. He even uses the word twice in one sentence.

I hope he isn’t lying about not running for President.
Being a good Democrat you seldom can take them at their word.

He has been exposed.

Precisely, and boy, has he ever removed all doubt about how transparent he really is. If he were at all worried about "brain dead partisanship" in Washington he would have been speaking up a long time ago. It's not like "brain dead partisanship" is anything new in Washington DC or anywhere else in politics for that matter. I hope more flies like him drop out of the picture.....

He ain’t even outside DC yet and he’s trying to claim the position of “outsider” for 2012.

The paradox of it all is that this makes Bayh the ultimate “insider”.

I really thought that Bayh might be the one Dem in the Senate who was above it, but this rat is simply looking for his next piece of cheese and he ain’t got the guts to stand up to Obama while he’s in a position to actually do so.

He’s a disgrace!

Maybe that’s why he quit. Maybe he would have lost, or maybe he would have won.

But I’m sure there are a few Democrats whose arms got twisted to death to vote for this bad legislation, and were not comfortable with it. However, if they say so, the nutroots come after them. Heck, you can’t even contribute to a candidate without these creepy types coming after you and your business - witness California. That was never the way this country was intended to work.

The founders intended that people of statesmenship would get into office and vote what was best for the country. I would have hated to be a Democrat lawmaker this year who was a non frothing at the mouth lib.

That is why my favorite president is George Washington.

Bayh’s lifetime ACU rating is 20.7 (Obomba’s was 10.0). This does not include 2009 voting, however. I would presume if that were the case, his rating would drop.

On this basis, Bayh is only slightly better than Obomba, which also means that his image as a “moderate” is largely hype.

Yep. Saturday Night Live in their hay day couldn't write comedy as good as what is happened now with all these politicians dropping out and claiming to be "outsiders" after umptydump years in DC. This stuff with Bayh reminds me of a house cat that knocks over a potted plant, then walks away as if it had nothing to do with it.

If this keeps up there is going to be a serious shortage of popcorn around my hacienda.....

"the partisanship, the interest-group dominance, has grown only worse in the last 15 years."

If special interest groups is such a worry for you, then why not propose an amendment to repeal the 17th amendment and have the Senators selected by the state legislatures? There might still be special interests, but at least it would move away from Washington and move out to the 50 states. They would be state dominated special interests. People like PETA would not have nearly the power they have now. George Soros would have to fund a thousand campaigns of state elected officials to have the same influence he does now.

“Bayh is play the same old tune... he voted for everyone of Zer0’s ultra left plans!

The message would have carried some merit had he voted against 0bama’s partisan bills. Instead he voted yea, and now is high-tailing it out of dodge.

Coward.
