Maher Strikes Again: Americans 'Not Bright Enough to Really Understand the Issues'
Newsbusters ^ | February 17, 2010 | Jeff Poor

Either Bill Maher was doing his best effort to impersonate Mel Brooks as King Louis XVI in "History in the World, Part I" or he has a complete and utter disregard for the intellectual competency of the American people.

Maher, a perennial bomb thrower with a hard left ideology appeared on CNN's Feb. 16 "Larry King Live," facing the king of softball interviews, Larry King, and let it be known he thought alleged terrorism plotter Khalid Sheikh Mohammed should be tried in New York City and that health care should be forced through by the Obama administration, despite the wishes of the American people.

And why should the American people's wishes be ignored? They're "not bright enough."

"But what the Democrats never understand is that Americans don't really care what position you take, just stick with one," Maher said. "Just be strong. They're not bright enough to really understand the issues. But like an animal, they can sort of sense strength or weakness. They can smell it on you."

I think you meant a “Bastille” - which was the prison fortress in Paris where enemies of the state once languished. Not yet, but give it time.

It's part and parcel of the liberal mindset to believe that they are smarter than "the masses" that it is their destiny (and duty) to lead to Utopia.

Only about 25% of the population is afflicted with the disease. To the rest of us, they sound smug and arrogant to the point of being disgusting.

Which is why Bill Maher is disgusting.

“Bill might be on to something here, consider the evidence: they elected Obama.”

And a few of them even watch Maher.

I heard this tripe from Cokie Roberts in a speech she gave to bankers in the early 1990’s . . . MSM’s excuse to explain the news or report carefully selected facts instead of reporting unvarnished facts.

The folks ARE smart enough to figure out that leftists are about to bankrupt this country . . . Maher is NOT SMART ENOUGH to figure that out.

We Americans have a tough problem — listening to thousands of politicians and “experts” and then trying to put all the pieces together.

We Americans mainly have lives of our own to live. The job of the politicians and experts is to do analysis and present conclusions to us that we can understand, and to be honest with us.

Folks, we’re doing ok.

Bill, its not that they are not bright enough, it’s that many have misplaced priorities.
All you have to do is watch an hours worth of MTV, VH1, or some other dreck to see where we are at morally as a country.

true, the issues are quite complicated but, one thing we do understand is math. And, the federal government keeps doing things, buying things, and promising things that it can not afford. I do not trust the feds with health care because they’ve proven to me they can’t balance a check book. Would you loan a drunk driver your car. When the feds prove they can handle fiscal discipline, I’ll consider listening to them again. Until then, smaller government is the way to go. The feds have no freakin clue about reality.

When the polls agree with the libs they cry, “it's what the people want, we have a mandate to do this.” And when the polls disagree with them they say, “Americans are not smart enough to understand all the issues, we must do this for their own good.”

Bill Maher is right in away, he states; And why should the American people’s wishes be ignored? They’re “not bright enough.”

That’s fine and if that’s the case then BO, Reid, Pelosi and all the other a$$holes should be removed from office because the American people that put them there aren’t bright enough.

I would say Mill Maher needs to have his head shoved up his a$$, but he’s done it himself already.

Americans are not well educated on all of the issues. They can't be. Not everyone is a political junkie. That is why we have a representative form of government. We elect people with a similar political ideology as our own and trust them to educate themselves on all of the issues and vote accordingly. It doesn't always work, but it is all we have.

Yeah, I am so stupid because I didn’t vote for an unknown “articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking” half-black guy promising “hope and change.”

D’oh!
