Posted on 02/18/2010 8:03:12 PM PST by SeekAndFind
In an article about Thursday's apparent suicide by a pilot in Austin, Texas, the folks at Time.com made two seemingly intentional links to the Tea Party movement.
First, the piece began:
The long, rambling rant posted on a website eerily reflected the angry populist sentiments that have swept the country in the past year. In it, a Joe Stack inveighed against intrusive Big Brother government, corrupt corporate giants, irrational taxes, as well as the "puppet" George Bush.
(See the making of the Tea Party movement.)
Then, after the third paragraph which concluded, "Toward the end of what appears to be his final note, Stack wrote, 'Well, Mr. Big Brother IRS man, let's try something different; take my pound of flesh and sleep well,'" the folks at time advertised the following article by the magazine with a hyperlink highlighted in yellow:
(See the making of the Tea Party movement.)
Not very subtle, is it?
Let's be clear that tying this person to Tea Parties or conservatives is preposterous. After all, his suicide note ended:
The communist creed: From each according to his ability, to each according to his need.
The capitalist creed: From each according to his gullibility, to each according to his greed.
Joe Stack (1956-2010)
You know a lot of conservatives and/or Tea Party members extolling the virtues of communism while bashing capitalism?
No...I don't either.
Shame on Time for doing this.

that didn’t take long...
And so it goes, the New York Times has joined TIME MAGAZINE :

WaPo’s Capehart: Austin Suicide Pilot’s ‘Alienation Similar To Extreme Elements of Tea Party Movement’
Funny how the media refuses to bring up Amy Bishop, ya know, the LIBERAL whack job who shot and killed 3 teachers at the University of Alabama-Huntsville..yeah, she was a far left kook who was obsessed with Obama..haven’t heard the media bring that up
Is that considered Slander or Libel? I can never keep the definitions straight...
The loon said he was against health insurance companies and wanted Govt to take it over, H e said he was against Bush and went on a tirade against the church.
He was just another loon who moved from CA because of taxes he voted for to TX and now the left tries to say he’s right wing
he was a left wing nut and I bet the huff post, move on, KOS, DU are scrubbing their sites as we speak of him
I guess then that he was a Time-Lies reader too because he slammed the Catholic Church in his manifesto.
MSNBC joins the “Link Tea Party to Terror” bandwagon :
Chris Matthews’ Southern Poverty Guest Ties Stack To ‘Radical Right’
Do you know where in California he came from? I looked at the Travis County voter rolls and couldn’t find him among the Stacks there.
I think I read something about LA. Would I just look for one county’s listing or are there some counties at the edge where he may have lived?
They are desperate...the only thing that rings true for them is their lies.
Predicted by Rush before the press release.
Typical Libtard performance, accuse your “enemies” for exactly what you doing.
she was a left wing kook but so was this guy
he said before he killed himself that he hated health insurance companies, he hated Bush and he hated the church infact he despised the church.
not exactly right wing was he
he was also against the GM bailouts but so is the left wing as they hate the freemarket.
If any one is saying this guy is right wing then then they seriously need their head seeing too
Time Warner Inc's (TWX.N) magazine division Time Inc plans another round of job cuts as advertising declines erode revenue, a source familiar with the unit said on Thursday. The job cuts at Time Inc — which publishes Time magazine, People, Sports Illustrated and Fortune — would be at about the same level as the division cut last year, the source said. Time Inc. cut more than 600 positions, or more than 6 percent of its workforce, in that round.”
of course this nut was a left winger, but the media wont talk about all the communist crap he was talking about in his letter
I wonder if you could link a crazed liberal Alabama college professor who murdered 3 of her colleagues to MoveOn.org, PETA, Greenpeace, or any other leftest group?
They are really, really stupid.
How long until they blame part of it on Rush?
All of the above are quotes from Stack's manifesto.
he was a left wing loon though as he left a manifest of which he hates and that included Bush, church and health insurance companies
I don't watch MSNBC or even NBC, CBS, ABC but are they seriously trying to say he was right wing after the crap he left
We have maybe muslims poisoning the food in the army, a left wing kook from MA shooting folks and a left wing kook who slams his plane into a building
What do you expect from left-wing provocateurs who see their once powerful influence dwindling to the bottom of bird cages and septic tanks? Stick a fork in’em ... they’re done.
The public accepts this conclusion. Time-Life-CNN-Turner-Warner wouldn’t lie, would they?!!!
it’s not like they are Dan Ratherbiased or Uncle Walter...
I bet as we speak they are at KOS, MOVE ON, DU deleting the names of this whack left wing job
Seems fair, here at FR, he’s been linked to the liberal party, the communist party, and the socialist party.
Looks like Obama sent his marching orders to the press around 3pm today.
But it isn’t going to stick. The guy was nut who fled California but found Austin too conservative, which just proves how nutty he was. He was a liberal who was ready to kill his own family, who hated George Bush, and who hated the Catholic Church. In fact he was a typical liberal in that he hated almost everything, and in the end I guess he even hated himself.
It appears as though the commie piggies in the MSM are going to use this as an excuse to NOT cover the antics of their pals, The Ft. Jackson Five.
The Tea Partiers are really anti-religious too.
The Holocaust Museum shooter was also a leftist and they said he was a righty
Liberals are full of FAIL.
He left his wife and daughter homeless.
Huh? This thing gets more “Alice in Wonderland” by the moment.
Los Angeles County (he did live in LA awhile) requires birthdate (which will come out sooner than later) and street address and zipcode.
But he may get purged in light of this high profile news story.
Since he did not like 8 years of Bush, I doubt he was a McCainiac or a Sarah Palin fan.
This isn’t always a bad thing. Too bad right now they seem to have superior numbers...
Can anyone find out if he had any political affiliations or records that would show his contributions to individual political candidates?
I’m sure it would fit the tea party profile the media is trying to sell us on. (sarcasm)
I doubt many of us are surprised the MSM wants to link this madman to conservatives. They politicize anything that may promote their agenda and ignore everything that does not.
Crazy is crazy. I really don’t care who he voted for.
The timeframe under which Communism is imposed on the masses?
The left is so predictable. I won the bet.
And who didn’t see this coming?
It was my first thought after reading the news about the Austin crash.
To paraphrase Rush - “We KNOW these people...”
I doubt he gave to a political party or candidate (even some long shot third party no name) just as I doubt he gave to Salvation Army or tithed to a church.
He wanted to gubmint to spend taxpayer money on socialized healthcare for all and tax some business large than his own.
The left is so predictable. I won the bet.
Someone posted earlier that a man of the same name contributed to Ron Paul. The contribution came from California, where Stack once lived. That’s all I’ve seen.
According to California state records, Joseph Stack had a troubled business history, twice starting software companies in California that ultimately were suspended by the state's tax board, one of them in the late 1980s, the other in 2001.
In 1985, he incorporated Prowess Engineering Inc. in Corona.
It was suspended two years later. He started Software Systems Service Corp. in Lincoln in 1995 and that entity was suspended in 2001.
Stack listed himself as chief executive officer of both companies.
The manifesto was posted on the website, EmbeddedArt.com, which was the name of the company that Stack founded in Southern California 1983, which was originally known as "Prowess Engineering."
