Gay Republicans draw support, concern at CPAC
http://www.cnn.com ^ | February 19, 2010 | From Brianna Keilar

Washington (CNN) -- An unlikely sponsor at this year's annual conservative conference is hoping to not only promote the issues that set it apart from many Republicans, but also draw attention to the beliefs they share.

The group is called GOProud -- a name that combines GOP and gay pride. So far, the group is getting a mixed response at the Conservative Political Action Conference.

GOProud was founded by former members of the Log Cabin Republicans, a gay and lesbian Republican grass-roots organization.

GOProud has a booth at CPAC just two spaces away from the exhibition for the National Organization for Marriage, which wants the government to define marriage as between a man and a woman.

The organizations obviously see social issues differently.

...

Chris Plante, who is running the booth for the National Organization for Marriage, said being two booths away from GOProud wasn't an issue.

As cameras rolled, he introduced himself to Barron.

"I hope we'll have more time to talk over the next four days. Maybe we can have a beer later," Plante said.

"We can have a beer summit later. It worked for Obama," Barron joked.

A meeting, yes. But don't expect a meeting of the minds.

"Gays and lesbians have the right to live as they choose, but they don't have the right to redefine marriage for the rest of us," Plante said.

The whole idea of "Gay Pride" is a liberal concept. It can never be a conservative one or compatible with conservative ideas. Also these "Gay Republicans" never seem to offer any criticism of the radicalism of their leftist counterparts. Instead they march alongside them in their march to force their agenda in schools, in public spaces, through intimidation and government mandate. They aren't conservative they are trying to undermine conservatism that is the game plan of homosexuals. That is why they wanted into the boy scouts and the military. It wasn't because of huge numbers ever desiring such a thing on their own it was a tactic, a strategy. What I really find offensive is the idea that acceptance of open homosexuality is libertarian when the strategy of gay activists is the exact opposite of libertarian belief. The use of the government and hate crimes legistlation and forced diversity programs in schools is not libertarian it is tyranny. The homosexual movement has been oppossed to the basic ideas such as freedom of association in regards to a persons right to choose who they will associate with. They have never been about live and let live. If they had the modern gay activist movement would've died an early death. Also the efforts to blur civil rights and demean it to a level of the copulation of two men or two women is an attrocity.

They have taken something that for most people is private and turned it into a activist cause not only for acceptance but forced tollerance of something that most people instinctively know is wrong or at a minimum incorrect behavior.

And what does homosexual acceptance get us? The views of a radical minority ends up force fed to those of us who don't care provided they leave us and our children alone and keep their sex lives private.

When folks declare God is dead and they are as gods, bad things happen....

Rom 1:25-32
25 They exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator — who is forever praised. Amen.

26 Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural relations for unnatural ones. 27 In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed indecent acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their perversion.

28 Furthermore, since they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, he gave them over to a depraved mind, to do what ought not to be done. 29 They have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed and depravity. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit and malice. They are gossips, 30 slanderers, God-haters, insolent, arrogant and boastful; they invent ways of doing evil; they disobey their parents; 31 they are senseless, faithless, heartless, ruthless. 32 Although they know God's righteous decree that those who do such things deserve death, they not only continue to do these very things but also approve of those who practice them.

The ‘gays’ I know who vote republican primarily because:

1) they support a small government
2) Want a non intrusive government into their homes
3) LOVE Fair tax/flat tax idea
4) are small business owners
5) desire strong defense of our nation
6) Know damn well that Islam loathes them
7) Are quite embarrassed by the lunatic gay patriots.

I don’t have a problem with any of those things however I stand by my assertion that gay pride is entirely incompatible with conservatism and the ideas of the sovereign citizen and the freedom to associate. The Log Cabin Republicans go to the Parades and are only slightly less profain or less lewd than their leftist counterparts. I know many homosexuals who aren’t. A friend of mine is gay and I’ve had diner with him with my family. I don’t oppose people who don’t make an issue of their personal lives and don’t try to force them into my face. I really don’t care other than I believe it is incorrect behavior largely driven by abuse. My friend for example was molested when he was a child by his uncle which is common among homosexauls.

I agree but they won’t. They continue to try to force implementation of “diversity” programs and so called “anti-bully” programs to encourage and teach homosexual normalcy to the young whether the parents like it or not.

Take a look when you get a chance at this public street fair in San Fransisco. Make sure your children aren’t present if you have any.

>>A friend of mine is gay

They’re not “gay” they’re sexually and socially dysfunctional; deserving of compassion, perhaps - but still dysfunctional and ultimately destructive to society when allowed/encouraged to “normalize”.

What does your friend think of Romans 1:25-32?

What was Paul the Roman’s motivation for making that historical observation of cause and effect?

Same with my acquaintances who are gay. It is worse for them in the LA area because in the “gay community” everyone is supposed to be a hardline socialist. So they are still “in a closet” of sorts, a political one.

Perhaps there is a reason why Pride is one of the seven deadly sins?

Fools go where (most) angels fear to tread...
Isa 14:12-15
12 "How you are fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning!
How you are cut down to the ground, You who weakened the nations!
13 For you have said in your heart:
'I will ascend into heaven,
I will exalt my throne above the stars of God;
I will also sit on the mount of the congregation
On the farthest sides of the north;
14 I will ascend above the heights of the clouds,
I will be like the Most High.'
15 Yet you shall be brought down to Sheol,
To the lowest depths of the Pit.
NKJV
And around and around we go... as the Snake eats its own tail yet again.

Before the nation can have a REAL dialogue on social issues and their place in the American way of life, we need to return the government as an arbitrator of decisions rather than taking sides as it does now.

The only way I can see us recreating the government as our founding fathers established is to ‘starve the beast of funds’ by reforming the tax codes and gutting the federal government first . This should be our number one battle, objective etc and I firmly believe we need as many allies as possible, whatever their ‘social beliefs’ are.

Once we have a smaller, leaner government many of these lefty organizations will disappear, there will no longer be a ‘big brother’ issuing ‘social justice’ mandates and the debate can be more fairly decided.

JMO...

A friend of mine is an alcoholic. He’s been to my house, and had dinner with me and my family.

He’s not an in-your-face alcoholic, though, like so many others are.

Help him with his disease? Uh... I never thought about that.

My friend deals with it himself. I don’t spend a lot of time with him. He has his life and he never makes it an issue so I don’t either. He seems to live just fine a rural town with out the in your face activism. He does have problems related to his behavior. He did confide he had some lower intestinal problems because of something he picked up. I know gays are all rainbows and pink triangles but that hardly addresses the real challenges and problems they have which I believe the activism helps mask rather than help.

‘They’re not “gay” they’re sexually and socially dysfunctional; deserving of compassion,’

They be dysfunctional and destructive, but I try to treat others like I want to be treated....with courtesy and respect.

Furthermore, try as I might, I do not judge.I’m not God.

I’m defending the ‘gay’ lifestyle(I privately disagree with it).

Alcholics aren’t trying to make drink mixing mandatory in kindergarten classes. I also have yet to see a parade with a float full of Alcholics promoting alcholism by puking and drinking for all to see. I do have friends who are alcoholics though and like friends/aquaintances who are gay I don’t spend a lot of time with them. Its not my thing.
