Gays, gay marriage foes spar at CPAC
Politico ^ | Feb 19, 2010 | Ben Smith

Posted on 02/19/2010 12:52:16 PM PST by DesertRenegade

The young crowd at CPAC doesn't seem terribly interested in the issue of same-sex marriage, but there's been a bit of shadow boxing between the gay Republican group GOProud, which got a booth over objections from social conservatives, and the National Organization for Marriage a couple of booths away.

The groups were apparently so chummy that a NOM official wandered by the GOProud booth during a CNN segment on the group to propose a friendly beer summit.

Later in the day, however, NOM e-mailed a less friendly statement:

Many reporters, including Politico, have asked us how we feel about the fact GOProud is just a few booths over from us. We welcome everyone's right to participate in the democratic process, but we have a message for GOProud on marriage: If you try to elect pro-gay-marriage Republicans, we will Dede Scozzafava them. The majority of Americans, and the vast majority of Republicans, support marriage as the union of husband and wife, and NOM is here to make sure these voters and their voices are heard loud and clear.

E-mails GOProud's Chris Barron, "I guess the beer summit is off ... unless, of course, a CNN camera is involved."

What I don't understand is that this group 'GOProud' is very open about wanting to insert open homosexuality into our military forces and legalize 'marriage' between two males who consummate the marriage how? Their agenda is so bizarre on the face of it that it makes you wonder if their intention is to weaken the tradition values that most CPAC supporters believe in.

Doesn't make me wonder. I'm sure that's their agenda. (it's called infiltration)

I don’t understand this either. It makes CPAC look like jerks.

I seem to remember another front group for the homosexuals called ‘Log Cabin’ that was later exposed as being funded by a rich, liberal homosexual. I wonder if this group is getting its money the same way. There is something odd about forming a group based on the sexual practices of its members.

They sure sound like cafeteria Catholics. What part of this rather straightforward language in the Republican Platform do they not understand?

Preserving Traditional Marriage

Because our children’s future is best preserved within the traditional understanding of marriage, we call for a constitutional amendment that fully protects marriage as a union of a man and a woman, so that judges cannot make other arrangements equivalent to it. In the absence of a national amendment, we support the right of the people of the various states to affirm traditional marriage through state initiatives.

Republicans recognize the importance of having in the home a father and a mother who are married. The two-parent family still provides the best environment of stability, discipline, responsibility, and character. Children in homes without fathers are more likely to commit a crime, drop out of school, become violent, become teen parents, use illegal drugs, become mired in poverty, or have emotional or behavioral problems. We support the courageous efforts of single-parent families to provide a stable home for their children. Children are our nation’s most precious resource. We also salute and support the efforts of foster and adoptive families.

Republicans have been at the forefront of protecting traditional marriage laws, both in the states and in Congress. A Republican Congress enacted the Defense of Marriage Act, affirming the right of states not to recognize same-sex “marriages” licensed in other states. Unbelievably, the Democratic Party has now pledged to repeal the Defense of Marriage Act, which would subject every state to the redefinition of marriage by a judge without ever allowing the people to vote on the matter. We also urge Congress to use its Article III, Section 2 power to prevent activist federal judges from imposing upon the rest of the nation the judicial activism in Massachusetts and California. We also encourage states to review their marriage and divorce laws in order to strengthen marriage.

As the family is our basic unit of society, we oppose initiatives to erode parental rights.

I agree entirely with NOM. The left consistently tries to infiltrate conservative organizations to undermine them. Look at Iowa for example where a concerted stealth effort managed to fund and elect homosexual allies. This isn’t about gays as individuals it is about stopping a movement that seeks to totally redefine by government mandate marriage and sexual relationships. They have been pushing for years slowly but surely through sex education and anti-bully programs and after school gay straight alliance programs the homosexual agenda and in many cases the parents don’t even have the option to opt out of such indoctrination.

It would seem that party leadership is riddled with homosexuals - and has been for decades.

This may go a long way towards explaining why social conservatives seem to be held at arms length.

They are log cabin republicans and they are just like the HRC. Just gays in suits. At the end of the day they never do anything that shows they are different. They march right along and participate in the lewd displays in gay pride parades. I don’t mind their votes but “gay pride” is not one bit conservative. It is an in your face label. A real gay conservative would be one who doesn’t need to label him or herself as such. They would simply realize that they don’t need the acceptance of anyone for what they do in their private lives.

NOM is right on target here. What’s pretty bizarre is that this special interest homosexual group, GOProud, is now calling the people at NOM “pansies”. Talk about the pot calling the kettle ... http://twitter.com/GOPROUD

The whole purpose of the Log Cabin “republicans” is to gay-ize the GOP. A bunch of them admitted they voted for 0bama anyway.

It’s just another “gay” propaganda effort.

If the Repubs don’t stand up against the homosexual mafia it’s all over for them. Most Americans do not want to surrender to the “gay” mafia, but apparently the GOP does.

You are so right. The loggers are foils, interested in infiltrating and weakening the GOP. Most gays, when scratched are all about homosexuality first and foremost. There areexceptions, but they are few. Bob

nail on head

the log cabins were a liberal activist group pretending to be republican, they were caught on their funding and now the name game happens again .
As always when the left see their name in trouble they just change it but go after the same agenda

It’s amazing that less than 2% of the population gets to control the 98% plus rest of us.

The only clue is that DC must be stuffed with sexual perverts, both parties.
