Obama Administration Denies Public Access to Fannie and Freddie Documents
Right Side News ^ | February 18, 2010 | Tom Fittion

Just last month the Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA), the agency responsible for Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, responded to our FOIA lawsuit by telling us that all of the documents we seek are not "FOIA-able"! Here's the exact language the Obama agency used in its recent court filing: "...Any records created by or held in the custody of the Enterprises reflecting their political campaign contributions or policies, stipulations and requirements concerning campaign contributions necessarily are private corporate documents. They are not 'agency records' subject to disclosure under FOIA."

Anyone surprised at this would also be surprised to learn that bears are pooping in the woods.

Fannie mae and Freddie mac are public institutions owned by and functioning for (supposedly) the American people. We, the citizens of the United States, together are the shareholders in these institutions.

This is a travesty and it is ABSOLUTELY unconstitutional!

Unconstitutional you say? Hmmmm, that seems to be par for the course for this evil administration.

Freddie and Fannie are technically private corporations. While they may be in receivership by the Feds at the moment, and own a federal charter, they are still ostensibly private.

While this is a nice tempest in a teapot to get worked up over, I prefer that a stand is taken to deny FOIA requests about private companies rather than the converse. Would you like any company which gets a dime from Uncle Sam or even a guarantee to be on the hook for FOIA requests? Don’t you see what damage the left would do with such a tool?

It’s always prudent to look for the unintended consequences when you try to push through radical changes like this request.

As for Fannie and Freddie being under the control of the Feds, that is a recent thing from them going broke. Before that they did more of the string pulling to be quite honest with their horde of bought congressmen.

I thought Freddie an dfannie were publically held entities, part of the government finance system.

Thanks for the information. No I most certainly would not want private companies subject to FOIA demands.

Democrats have been using Fannie/Freddie as a personal piggy-bank for almost two decades now.

If the books get opened to the Public, a LOT of Democrats are going to jail.

>>Democrats have been using Fannie/Freddie as a personal >>piggy-bank for almost two decades now.”

They have been playing quid pro quo games where Dems (and Pubs) in congress run interference for Freddie and Fannie from regulators in return for campaign funds and spending on pet projects. Barney Frank is one of the biggest players in this.

>And the Republicans knew nothing about it?

Many GOPers have been complicit in this game. While I would say the Dems are on average more corrupt, they certainly have not cornered the market on corruption.

I don't know if there is any way out of it. As long as there are no consequences for what these commies are doing, why should they stop? No one has done anything about any number of issues that are important if our nation is to retain any semblance of freedom. All most of us can do is complain, if we are to remain peaceful. I hate to see a civil war,but I also hate to see America wait too long to have one. I'd guess that in the next three years, either we will have people in govt. stand up to these bastards, or we will have to have war, or we will be living under tyranny that will make Stalin smile in his grave.

I strongly suspect that about 2 million of us...walking into the city..with some locksmiths/computer hackers in front...could eventually just walk into headquarters and start downloading onto public servers exactly what we need to know...but that’s what it would take...
