On the list of insane public policy moves we have come to expect from the current administration, Cap and Tax, Obamacare and Union Card Check, a fourth has garnered relatively little attention, although the implications for all Americans may be among the most far-reaching. The recurring theme is centralized control.
On Monday, the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California will host a rare Congressional Field Hearing. A Congressional delegation will venture out of the beltway and actually devote time to a problem in our country. Better yet, they will be listening to real citizens. Sort of.
At issue is what residents are calling a government-made drought in the Central and San Joaquin Valleys of California. Legal and environmental regulations in the Endangered Species Act has resulted in the diversion of 200 billion gallons of water from the agricultural heartland of California into the Ocean. According to California farmer Rose Corona,

Less to get wee-weed up about.
Water is a privilege and healthcare/abortions are rights. Remember when we were kids and we played opposites day? I guess liberals are still playing that game.
Dums ushering in the bad ole days of water and range wars.
Get these maniacs out of power NOW.
Obama is showing his Neo-Nazi colors by controlling access to nature’s most valued resource.
Free healthcare is a “right” but water is not? Somebody has been hittin’ the happy smoke again.
“Water its not a right its a privilege”
WOW. Is he TRYING to incite a rebellion? I mean wow....
What did this clown say? He really needs to go.
Obama’s constitution must begin with “We the critters”.
Because the travel distance is such a strain on both the farmers and the concerned citizens in that area, Corona and other Pro-water coalition groups are calling on all Patriots and Tea Party Activists to come and show their support for a solution in two locations. A Town Hall meeting with Representatives Nunes, McClintock, McCarthy and Bishop (R-Utah) will be held on Monday:
Fresno City Council Chambers
2600 Fresno Street, 2nd floor
Fresno, CA 90012-2944
The Oversight Field Hearing will be held:
700 N. Alameda Street, Los Angeles, CA
If you will be anywhere in Southern California on Monday, please make one of the meetings. If you cannot, please be sure your Congressman is on the discharge petition. The administration that wants to control your health care, your energy and your bank, now wants to control your water.
Perhaps we the peons...
That's all the democrats view Americans as.
Who knows? Perhaps California could vote GOP in 2012. Some of you may say that is crazy but it could be just as crazy as Massachusetts voting for a republican Senator to replace Teddy.
he’s def confused on this one- water IS a RIGHT in this country!
WRONG COUNTRY PAL!
Actually, Obama’s constitution begins with “We The Government”.
But the morons of this state will just continue to vote Democrat, and to re-elect the pimp Obama and his prostitutes like Barbara Boxer—no questions asked. Then they wonder why they wallow in the sh-tter.
Communists have often starved their opponents.
Communists have often starved their opponents.
In California water equals food. So Obama is saying that food is not a right but a privilege.
Actually, since water is even more a “green house gas” than CO2, then water is a pollutant. Must be regulated and controlled, no?
Hannity did a special on this a while ago. It is really dreadful. Fertile lands are turning into dust bowls as a result of the insane environmentalist ruling of an idiot judge, who ordered turning off the water, because it inconvenienced some tiny fish. If it was so bad for the fish, how did it survive all these years?!
One way or another, the “Progressives” seek population decline. Either through abortion/infanticide, sacrificing those they deem not worthy of life saving/extending health services, political and economic machinations leading to further employment loss and subsequent deaths due to same, starvation and dehydration.
The lunatics will have their long sought purge of humanity from Mother Gaea by any methods and means available.
It's like Pharoah telling the slaves to make brick without straw.
It worked for Stalin....and the 0bamaoists seek to repeat history.
So, elective surgery that kills children is a RIGHT but Water that is necessary for survival is a ‘privledge’?!?!
Great minds think alike!
Obamas constitution must begin with We the critters.
No. His version starts with “I.............”
This clearly imperial and not just forgetting where the power comes from but an outright rejection of the principles of power in the US.
The more times they say that this or that is not a right it is a privilege the more I resent them. They don’t just assert that the fruits of our labor and our nation are now theirs to allocate...THEY BELIEVE IT! If they stay very much longer they will have to be removed.
The list, ping
“I the Government”
It begins with, “I won.”
After that it goes something like this, “I won, therefore I am in control of even the air you breathe, the water you drink, the food you eat, the shelter over your head, your wealth and your health.”
Yes they do! :) Of course, idiots think alike too. ;)
No that this matters but the fish isn’t even native to the area.
The death panel extends its grasp to water.
Health care is a right but WATER, something we need every single day, is a privilege?
And your cars...
Eating isn’t a right either, it’s a priviledge.
Hey, they've already proven that in Texas. We now have a tax on our private water wells in our county in Central Texas. Sure, it's a "tiny" FEE for now (just hang on, that'll change too) but already they are gearing up to put meters on our wells. Shore are partner, good ol' Texas, led by good ol' Socialists.
Why heck y'all, they say they're CONSERVATIVES too, kinda like CPAC folks, y'know?
Yep, forget those rights fellas, your butts belong to the state.
No. Water is property and California wouldn't be having these problems if they treated it as such. Instead they have a classic tragedy of the commons situation.
You mean all those western “Water Rights” wars of 150 years ago was really over Privileges?
Don’t shares of water rights mean anything to this administration?
No different from taxes on private oil and gas wells. I don't agree with those taxes either.
