The President's Proposal: Health Care Plan (oh boy here we go!)
WhiteHouse.gov ^ | Monday February 22, 2010

Posted on 02/22/2010 7:30:55 AM PST by Bigtigermike

The President’s Proposal puts American families and small business owners in control of their own health care.

* It makes insurance more affordable by providing the largest middle class tax cut for health care in history, reducing premium costs for tens of millions of families and small business owners who are priced out of coverage today. This helps over 31 million Americans afford health care who do not get it today – and makes coverage more affordable for many more.

* It sets up a new competitive health insurance market giving tens of millions of Americans the exact same insurance choices that members of Congress will have.

* It brings greater accountability to health care by laying out commonsense rules of the road to keep premiums down and prevent insurance industry abuses and denial of care.

* It will end discrimination against Americans with pre-existing conditions.

* It puts our budget and economy on a more stable path by reducing the deficit by $100 billion over the next ten years – and about $1 trillion over the second decade – by cutting government overspending and reining in waste, fraud and abuse.

The President’s Proposal bridges the gap between the House and Senate bills and includes new provisions to crack down on waste, fraud and abuse.

* Eliminating the Nebraska FMAP provision and providing significant additional Federal financing to all States for the expansion of Medicaid;

* Closing the Medicare prescription drug “donut hole” coverage gap;

* Strengthening the Senate bill’s provisions that make insurance affordable for individuals and families;

* Strengthening the provisions to fight fraud, waste, and abuse in Medicare and Medicaid;

* Increasing the threshold for the excise tax on the most expensive health plans from $23,000 for a family plan to $27,500 and starting it in 2018 for all plans;

* Improving insurance protections for consumers and creating a new Health Insurance Rate Authority to provide Federal assistance and oversight to States in conducting reviews of unreasonable rate increases and other unfair practices of insurance plans.

Sweet lies are much preferred by voters over bitter truths.

That’s what kills me.

Republicans should hold a press conference

Yes, we’re the party of no.
No to losing our doctors and being forced into universal healthcare
No to waiting in lines to be seen instead of appts.
No to higher taxes that still won’t fully fund this mess
No to death panels, bureaucrats deciding our treatment
etc. etc.

I seriously want to find a party of “NO”

They’ve been harping on this waste,fraud and abuse thing for the last year. Why haven’t they stopped it

And the corrollary: If they do not pass this bill will they allow the waste, fraud and abuse to continue?

He’s become like a stalker. The US is the girl in this example, and he’s the creepy guy. The girl accepted one date (the election.) After a few more dates, she realized he was psycho and she told him to back off. However, he keeps coming at her with different ideas and she keeps turning him down, but he won’t give up.

Excellent analogy.

And how are you going to pay for it, Nitwit?

There is no middle class .. the unemployment has whittled the numbers down to unimportance .. it is a two class nation ... dependent on government and not.

* It sets up a new competitive health insurance market giving tens of millions of Americans the exact same insurance choices that members of Congress will have.
Those chices have always been available ... the retoric no longer says, "the exact same PLAN as ... "

* It brings greater accountability to health care by laying out commonsense rules of the road to keep premiums down and prevent insurance industry abuses and denial of care.
Pure bullshit. The friggin' sentence can't be logically parsed.

* It will end discrimination against Americans with pre-existing conditions.
What about illegals?

* It puts our budget and economy on a more stable path by reducing the deficit by $100 billion over the next ten years – and about $1 trillion over the second decade – by cutting government overspending and reining in waste, fraud and abuse.
Again, pure bullshit. Common sense and 6th grade arithmetic proves the higher taxes required to even impliment this plan negates all of those allegations

The President’s Proposal bridges the gap between the House and Senate bills and includes new provisions to crack down on waste, fraud and abuse.
Translation: The President is planning on being dictator

* Eliminating the Nebraska FMAP provision and providing significant additional Federal financing to all States for the expansion of Medicaid;
I have no idea what this means

* Closing the Medicare prescription drug “donut hole” coverage gap;
Nor this, * Strengthening the Senate bill’s provisions that make insurance affordable for individuals and families;
What happed to bridged gap? OH ... The Senate bill will be passed ... I get it.

* Strengthening the provisions to fight fraud, waste, and abuse in Medicare and Medicaid;
Dr., we're from the government ... may we speak to you please ... ?

* Increasing the threshold for the excise tax on the most expensive health plans from $23,000 for a family plan to $27,500 and starting it in 2018 for all plans;
Raise taxes

* Improving insurance protections for consumers and creating a new Health Insurance Rate Authority to provide Federal assistance and oversight to States in conducting reviews of unreasonable rate increases and other unfair practices of insurance plans
Everything you've ever known about what it's like to go to the doctor will be wiped clean and replaced with the government

This is a bunch of platitudes and talking points.

When the plan is actually in front of lawmakers, it will get dissected.

Unless they simply fold up like accordians and pass it.
