(Michael Steele) ObamaCare Returns: Time to Send a Clear Message to Washington
Big Government ^ | February 22, 2010 | Michael S. Steele

Posted on 02/22/2010 10:30:01 AM PST by maggief

Disgusted by President Obama’s liberal agenda, voters in Virginia, New Jersey and Massachusetts went to the polls and replaced Democrats with Republicans to send a message to Washington. That message is: Stop.

stop_sign

Stop the rampant spending that threatens to send our country spiraling toward insolvency. Stop the rapid expansion of government that continues to encroach on our essential freedoms. And most of all stop trying to shove a radical health care “reform” bill designed to fundamentally restructure the U.S. economy down our throats.

The American people have spoken. The White House hasn’t heard their message.

Now Harry Reid is promising to pass a health care bill through the Senate in sixty days. President Obama is continuing to arrogantly push this radical legislation in the hope of creating a new entitlement program that will continue to nurture America’s dependency on Big Government. When America’s leadership has become so disconnected from Americans’ interests, the American people must stand up boldly in defense of their livelihoods and their liberties.

It is more important now than ever to send a clear, unambiguous message to Washington. That is why I am asking you to sign a petition urging President Obama and his Democrat allies to start over on health insurance reform; to work hand in hand with Republican leaders to craft sensible legislation that will address the real issues that plague our health insurance system; and to listen to and enact the will of the American people.

Stand up for yourself and your country. The White House has not heard your voice. Make them hear it. Sign this petition today.

The message is simple: anyone who votes for this will face the wrath of the American people come November.

STOP TAKING OUR RIGHTS!

Start Over on Health Insurance Reform

Start Over on Health Insurance Reform

Preamble

President Obama’s initial attempt to seize control of one-sixth of the U.S. economy by nationalizing the American health care system has failed.

But serious issues continue to plague our health insurance system, and they must be addressed.

Now is the time to start over on health insurance reform and do it right.

Petition

We ask that President Obama and Congressional Democrats join with Republican leaders to start over on health insurance reform.

We ask that they help craft sensible reforms designed to lower costs and expand access without violating individual rights or the integrity of the market.

We ask that they enact medical liability reform and put an end to frivolous lawsuits that drive up the cost of medicine.

We ask that they allow individuals and small businesses to pool together to purchase high-quality affordable health care coverage.

We ask that they allow Americans to shop for health care coverage from coast to coast and purchase insurance policies across state lines.

We ask that they create new incentives to save for current and future health care needs by allowing people to use their health savings accounts funds to pay premiums for high deductible health plans.

We ask that they guarantee individuals with pre-existing conditions or past illnesses access to affordable coverage through the expansion of state-based, high-risk pools, and reinsurance programs.

We reject any attempt by the federal government to force any American to purchase an unwanted insurance plan.

We reject any attempt to implement a government-run insurance program.

We reject individual mandates, rationing, and special deals for any state.

We reject a separate set of rules for government and private sector health insurance purchases.

We oppose any plan that betrays our senior citizens by cutting Medicare coverage, or that allocates taxpayer funds to pay for abortion.

We reject any proposal that authorizes a government takeover of any portion of our health care system.

We ask that Congress and the President above all pledge to ensure the constitutionality of any health insurance reform legislation considered by the federal government.

We implore the President and his allies to listen to the will of the American people and start over on health insurance reform.

Listening to Republicans talk like this is pretty much the equivalent of listening to Bill Clinton give a lecture on fidelity and chastity.

Only way to stop obamacare is to kick King Obama and his Communists Party (formally the Democratic Party) out. That means total control over Senate and House and the Presidency. Fat chance for many years.

Which of the proposals did you not like? I’m on a board managing a large entity with 300 employees. We are getting KILLED with increases in health care costs; they are outstipping inflation. It’s not just one year, it’s been that way for several consecutive years now. You can pretend to ignore that there are problems with health care costs in the U.S.

I can’t.

Your “problems with health care costs” are caused by government involvement. More than half of our health care system is already socialized.

The solution is to return to constitutional governance, within enumerated powers, and liberty.

Allow only High Deductible Health Care plans. They greatly reduce over-use of medical insurance and get direct involvement of the insured in overseeing the expenses.

And those costs come largely from endless government mandate.

And as government produces more of them, costs will only increase further.

This is all about getting health care at someone elses expense. It is high time that we all start paying our own way instead of trying to push it off onto someone else.

Please tell me where these items are located in obama’s plan.

Most of the sensible posters here have been supporting these positions.
