Former Senate Majority Leader Bob Dole is hospitalized at Walter Reed Army Medical Center, undergoing therapy after recovering from pneumonia, his spokesman says.

Dole, 86, was admitted to the military hospital about three weeks ago with a respiratory condition, spokesman Michael Marshall said Monday. Dole recuperated from his bout with pneumonia but has remained at Walter Reed to regain strength from earlier surgery on his left knee, Marshall said.

A good man, I always liked Bob. But, he just wasn't going to win the White House.

Let's say a prayer for Bob.....

What in the world possessed him to even try for the office when his heart clearly wasn’t in it? Did he really think he could win just by portraying himself as a dear, sweet old war hero who wasn’t Clinton? I was watching closely at the time, the man had NO ideas. There was so much he could have campaigned on and he had NOTHING to say.

Anybody else could have tarred and feathered Clinton.

Agreed. Prayers up.

He always had a great sense of humor about himself, too:

IMO, I thought Bob put up a better fight than McCain ever did.

Bob had a more worthy (LOBW) opponent than McCain.

I would think Bob would have taken it to 0 like he did against Clinton instead of fetching, rolling over and playing dead like McCain did.

OK Bob, prayers up.

However, if you do pass on to your reward, try not to refer to yourself in the third person when you stand in front of The Throne.

Oh, and keep the sarcasm down as well.

I recall one time during the 96 campaign, one of Clintons appointed Judges made a boneheaded decision that made the news at the time. (It had something to do with a drug dealer fleeing the scene when cops showed up, and the cops acting under reasonable suspicion searched the guys car where they found illegal drugs. It was thrown out of court). Bob Dole criticized this decision and denounced Clinton for nominating this Judge. The Clinton team pointed out that not only did Dole vote for the guy, but he used his power as majority leader to ram the nomination through. That effectively shut the Dole campaign up for good on Clintons Judge picks
