Meet kinder, gentler Glenn Beck: New 'global warming' believer
WorldNetDaily ^ | 2/23/10 | MediaMatters

While polls show more people drifting away from acceptance of "global warming," the newest superstar among conservatives – Glenn Beck – is embracing it.

"You'd be an idiot not to notice the temperature change," he says.

He also thinks it could be caused partly by man's activity.

At home, he's going green by using energy-saving products.

"I'm willing to do anything but use the CFLs," he says of compact fluorescent light bulbs. "I put them in once and couldn't stand the way they lit up the room."

The kinder, gentler, greener and warmer side of Beck, known as a firebrand conservative, came to light in an interview in USA Weekend.

Beck also has lots of friends on the other side of the political spectrum, he reveals. He calls George Clooney "a good, honest man." Beck says the two of them had an extended conversation about the genocide in Darfur.

"We came to an immediate, completely wholehearted agreement about the situation," Beck says. "That is, to put aside the politics and give troops what they need to protect people over there. He's a good, honest man who believes passionately about doing something about it."

Beck's personal publicist, Matt Hiltzik, is a Democratic power player who helped get Hillary Rodham Clinton elected to the U.S. Senate, says the magazine report.

" "You'd be an idiot not to notice the temperature change..." "

Anyone who believes this planet's temperature did not fluctuate before the industrial age is an idiot. In Glenn's case, a dramatic idiot.

In all seriousness, I think Glenn is suffering from a form of PTSD, caused by his long battle of fighting off the liberals. His brain chemistry has gone way outta whack.

Thanks, too many concentrate on negatives instead of positives.

Quite illogical considering Conservative are the ones who usually use their heads.

I just happened to see that article in the Sunday paper...someone left at work.

My first thought...was WHY would Beck agree to it. He should be savvy enough to know...it's going to get twisted some.

That said, some of his supposed answers and statements were somewhat surprising...

Beck serves a purpose....he's just too goofy for me. Can't listen to him....

I think we are all people who put our own families and careers first.

Perhaps I didn’t say this the way I intended it, so let me try again.

I believe that the most important outcome for Glenn Beck, is the wellbeing of Glenn Beck. While he presents himself as a historian, he is nothing of the sort. By his own admission, he didn’t know how treacherous W.Wilson was until a couple years ago. Yikes! To be sure, he is a quick study on many things, but he makes me uneasy. I do not, for one second, believe he is on the conservative side. I believe he is on the Glenn Beck Side. What worries me more than anything else is that he is starting to believe his own press clippings. He makes me nervous. And I don’t want him speaking for true conservatives, and being the face of conservatism.

He’s not a scholar in any way. I routinely see him steal the research of others and it bothers me. This is a moral, a character flaw. And I think him taking liberties with such things is the reason he can poop out a book every couple month. I’ve known people who authored books...most take a couple years to do. Someone who writes as fast as he claims to, with a radio show, a family, and a TV show can’t possibly do it himself, unless he “borrows” from others.

I think he is a PT Barnum entertainer, and conservatives should tread lightly.

Ya, and this isn't the first time this accusation has been thrown out and debunked. I wish people would research a little before knee jerk reaction posts!

Why in the heck would Beck agree to be interviewed by USA Weekend?

Not very smart....IMO.

What is it with all of these hit pieces. Is a “bunker buddy” conspiracy afoot?

Beck is one of a rare few who is properly informing the public about who and what we have in the White House today. They are the revolutionary communist left. Jerk O'Reilly STILL doesn't get it and continues to mock the guy. Beck acts kooky only for the 'entertainment value', to keep people with short attention spans and other learning disibilities interested long enough to perhaps learn something about the subject. However, I do think he needs to drop the overly emotional stuff.

If thr fellow has stolen the intellectual property of others he should served and taken to court. There’s a lot of information o out there that some claim as their own for the ratings game. I don’t have a dog in this race, it just kind of bothers me to see a coordinated hit-job on a radio host. I mean the guy had the boycot thing after Van Jones, now this.

RE: Obama's (former) "Green Jobs Czar", Van Jones

Van Jones became a revolutionary communist following the 1992 L.A./Rodney King Riots (58 dead)
various sources

Posted on Sunday, September 06, 2009 10:19:07 AM by ETL

"Jones was arrested during the L.A. riots and spent a short time in jail. "I met all these young radical people of color," he recalls, 'I mean really radical: communists and anarchists. And it was, like, "This is what I need to be a part of." I spent the next ten years of my life working with a lot of those people I met in jail, trying to be a revolutionary.'..."

By the late 1990s, Jones was a committed Marxist-Leninist-Maoist who viewed police officers as the arch-enemies of black people, and who loathed capitalism for allegedly exploiting nonwhite minorities worldwide. He became a leading member of Standing Together to Organize a Revolutionary Movement (STORM), a now-defunct Bay Area Marxist-Maoist collective that was staffed by members of various local nonprofits, a number of whom had ties to the Ella Baker Center.

In the early 2000s, Jones and STORM were active in the anti-Iraq War demonstrations organized by International ANSWER, a front group for the Marxist-Leninist Workers World Party. STORM also had ties to the South African Communist Party and it revered Amilcar Cabral, the late Marxist revolutionary leader (of Guinea-Bissau and the Cape Verde Islands) who lauded Lenin as "the greatest champion of the national liberation of the peoples." (In 2006 Van Jones would name his own newborn son "Cabral" -- in Amilcar Cabral's honor.)"

From David Horowitz's FrontpageMag.com /DiscoverTheNetworks.org:

"Throughout its history, one of RCP's [Revolutionary Communist Party] principal objectives has been to foment civil unrest in the United States. The most notable example of such efforts occurred on April 29, 1992, when RCP members looted and trashed the downtown and government districts of Los Angeles, triggering the infamous Rodney King riots. During the days immediately preceding the violence, RCP -- which maintained close ties to the L.A. gangs known as the Crips and the Bloods -- had circulated throughout South Central Los Angeles a leaflet featuring a statement by RCP National Spokesman Carl Dix, titled 'It's Right To Rebel' -- a quote popularized by Mao Zedong.

Encouraged by Dix, RCP activists helped lead the riots that would leave 58 people dead, more than 2,300 people injured, some 5,300 buildings burned, and $1 billion in property damaged or destroyed. On the ten-year anniversary of the rioting, RCP member Joseph Veale fondly recalled the violence as 'the most beautiful, the most heroic civil action in the history of the United States.'"

No 12” of snow here in North Central Texas....just a mere dusting. Even the most drastic forecast calls for no more than 4” of the white stuff.

I’ve never had any particular admiration for Beck.

He’s obnoxious, coarse, and somewhat simple. - He appears easily influenced, and frequently vacillating.

Beck is clearly not “his own man,” but until this foolish crack in his shell, it hasn’t been completely obvious who he belonged to.

No questions now!

You sound like you take the man too seriously and need people to influence your opinions. No, Genn is not a historian and self admittedly just got into it, but he's learned certain aspects of it pretty well and does a good job of presenting it and deserve a certain amount of credit for doing so

But I'll tell you this, even the most ardent student of history doesn't know it all, in fact they learn something new every day so why not focus on what he is bringing to light rather than be so quick to put him down for the littlest thing.

As far a him using other people for sources, don't we all.? I have yet to see him plagiarize any one have you?

Glenn brags about his research staff all of the time, does that mean he's stealing their work too.

Lighten up and be glad for what he is doing, we need all we can get if we're going to defeat the cancer that has invaded our country.

Hell, if we can't even unite for a common cause to try and fix this Country how on earth are we ever going to succeed?

Great information that I will download and keep for future references. One suggestions though. Reduce the size of your graphs. I had to enlarge my window to the point that the writing is way too small to read, just to see the graph.

“Hit piece” is hardly an appropriate term to use for important news.

I haven’t watched Beck on FNC, but the very first clip I ever saw of Beck on YouTube was him making it clear that “AGW” was a scam and that Gore was wrong.

This article seems like a mindless distortion if not a blatant lie.
