The son of a leading Hamas figure, who famously converted to Christianity, served for over a decade as the Shin Bet security service's most valuable source in the militant organization's leadership, Haaretz has learned.
Mosab Hassan Yousef is the son of Sheikh Hassan Yousef, a Hamas founder and one of its leaders in the West Bank. The intelligence he supplied Israel led to the exposure of a number of terrorist cells, and to the prevention of dozens of suicide bombings and assassination attempts on Israeli figures.
The exclusive story will appear in this Friday's Haaretz Magazine, and Yousef's memoir, "Son of Hamas" (written with Ron Brackin) will be released next week in the United States. Yousef, 32, became a devout Christian 10 years ago and now lives in California after fleeing the West Bank in 2007 and going public with his conversion.
Yousef was considered the Shin Bet's most reliable source in the Hamas leadership, earning himself the nickname "the Green Prince" - using the color of the Islamist group's flag, and "prince" because of his pedigree as the son of one of the movement's founders

Don’t hold your breath.
It was after a chance encounter nine years ago with a British missionary that Mr Yousef began exploring Christianity.
He found it "exciting", he said, and began secretly studying the Bible, struck by the central tenet "love your enemies".
"You have to understand, I was never one of them. Although I helped my father and accompanied him, I was always opposed to the use of terror. Hamas members didn't like me. I didn't come to pray in the mosques, I hung around with strangers. They didn't like my leather jacket or even my jeans. They considered it going astray. But I helped my father and conducted his affairs because he's my father, not because he's a leader in Hamas. I'm not a Hamas activist who converted to Christianity. That's not the story. I wanted to help my father understand that harming innocent people is forbidden and through him perhaps to change other people's thinking."
Somehow, I doubt he'll be making the normal book-tour stops at the morning shows.

What better way to start the new year then to share with you a testimony of a son of a Hamas leader who has come to Christ and forsaken all to follow Him.
Today Fox News is reporting the story of Mosab Hassan Yousef, which also includes a video from August of 2008.
Yousef, 30, said he realized the true nature of Hamas and radical Islam during a stint in an Israeli prison. He renounced his Muslim faith, left his family behind in Ramallah and converted to Christianity.
"Islam is not the word of God," said Yousef. "If you want to be offended it's your problem. But you know something? Go study. Think for a second that I might be right. So wake up, look at your path, see where you're going. Are you really going to heaven with 72 virgins after you kill yourself and kill another 20 people?"
Yousef has sought asylum in the United States and now attends an evangelical Christian church on Barabbas Road in San Diego, Calif.
Anyone that is; save Yousef's avowed enemies; and all those who are enemies of Freedom and Truth - and of Christianity as well. We know that includes our 'Hollywood Left'; so doubt this story will be viewed on any 'big screen' soon.
( Though who knows; maybe at least, sooner; and on at least, 'a' screen; if not a big one/sigh. It does take courage of conviction, of all involved, to move this story along; and it is moving along.)
While knowing, no doubt, that his location is known; am not sure why it is included anywhere/anytime as this story appears. Worry not just about the ‘big timers’; but the small ones. . .’just headen down the road, looking for trouble’. Why put a red flag on your roof - or that of entire Congregation’s? No doubt, an ‘OTOH’ in here.
A concept, as I recall, he explained, that was so totally foreign to Islam's teaching; that he was shocked by it's impact. . .He mentioned as well; that he is not alone in his conversion - that many others live a double and dangerous, life. Think also; that he thought perhaps his Father may have at least, been sympathetic to Christianity when he died. No doubt, all recalled in book. . .
Thread bump.

This has been known for quite some time, but an interesting story.
(Even for this Fox News story; beyond name of Chruch; when is an address of a Church included in story detail. Only thing, not included is phone number. Again, regardless of 'who' knows; it still seems a strange and unnecessary detail.)
Why report this? Why put this guy, his family and anybody near him in danger? We’re dealing with murderous nutcases.
Hasn’t this “Green Prince” been interviewed rather frequently on TV? I’m certain I first saw him years ago, and heard all about the church he attends, too.
He’s been on TV quite a bit before. Those stories featured his religious conversion. This is the first time that the news has broken that he was a spy for Shin Bet.
Thank you for the explanation, I didn’t understand, OBVIOUSLY, lol.
Awesome.
