Youve got a long way to go, baby. And dont you forget it.
This oasis of freedom and equality we call the United States? Its all a mirage, says leftist feminist Jessica Valenti. In fact, Were suffering under the mass delusion that women in America have achieved equality.
Well, thanks for the armchair diagnosis, Jessica, but I wont play a victim character in the live action role playing game you call feminism.
And thats exactly what leftist feminism is: an elaborate fantasy world spun from ginned up scare-tistics and cherry-picked anecdotes. Like Trutherism and Birtherism, it provides participants with the safe excitement of an ever so valiant struggle that will last just as long as they feel like playing the game.
Never mind that real threats to womens equality like Islamic gender apartheid and totalitarianism are no fantasy. When youre the one making up the rules, the false notion that pregnant women are murdered by their male partners at an alarming rate is an indisputably worthy cause. And how will women understand the true extent of their oppression if someone doesnt perpetuate the myth (PDF) of a massive gender-based wage gap?
NewsReals John L. Work suggests that Jessica Valenti is consumed by anger that causes her to lose all perspective. But I suspect shes well aware of her carefully chosen perspective.
Jessica is invested in weaving this tapestry of tortured data because its rewarding.

Yeah they picked the side that is now supporting Shriah laws in the U.S. SURPRISE!!!
Little did they know that Kinsey and Betty Friedan would really lead to simply telling the ‘nice’ girls to do it for free, and that that was OK.
Yes he is right feminism is a cult, but it is perhaps one of the weakest cults of the Liberal coalition of the oppressed. I’m sure at any college confab of progressives the feminists are the least admired since the Left has gone all racial all the time, and how could the oppressed brown masses respect the over priveleged white women (especially since many of them are jewish too boot). Feminism has not been a popular issue since 1992 and really its only popularity is amongst goat farming lesbians who flee the diversity for the bucolic countryside composed of mostly white yahoos they proclaim to hate. They are a joke and they are done.
Conversely, my mother, like Sarah Palin, thinks feminism is a load of pap, and like Ms. Palin, my mother is successful, having run her business for 40 years, she's published and has raised a wonderful family. She doesn't think that women are not equal.
Jessica is a bimbo.
No more needs to be said.
45 years later they still claim that women earn 75cents on every dollar earned by a man. Doesn’t sound like they’ve made ANY advancements then.
And women are still dying of botched abortions, only now they happen in legally licensed, DNC funding, clinics.
She's offering women an upstanding opportunity (Pee while standing device) (Minn Star Tribune ^ | 2/17/10 | Paul St. Anthony)
Yoko Ono once proclaimed that woman is the n-word of the world.
I'll bet she has one of those bumper stickers that say "Well behaved women seldom make history" too.
Naw, she lost her driver’s license for drunk driving if I recall.
women in this country will never have equality until they: open doors for men, give up their seats to men, demand “Men and children first” during rescue situations, etc..
A lot of women are willing to pursue that security by any means.
Right now, the government acts as either the direct provider of that security, or as its guarantor via compelling the transfer of funds from individual men to individual women.
The basis for both is the following set of (false) premises: women have a greater need for (or entitlement to) material security; women will use that material security more wisely and more for the benefit of others than men would; women are less capable of securing material security for themselves directly; women are to be up on a pedestal and catered to accordingly; women are victims and thus she be paid by men; men are victimizers and thus should pay to women.
Those are the main factors of the feminist cash-sucking machine.
The Right needs to do much more to debunk each of those false premises. Historically, most on The Right have complained about the results of those premises being societally accepted (divorce, broken homes, massive social programs, etc.), but has done very little to look at why those premises sold (and still sell) to the general public.
It is critical to address the causes for society to move away from being the feminist horror show that it has become.
A modest start would entail stopping by MensNewsDaily.com
Ideologically, I would recommend getting fathers back into families, as that is where everyone's perceptions about women and men begin.
No we don't. Tina Fey's not funny.
"Fathers and children first!"
Let anyone try to speak against that:
They would have to either bring their war against fatherhood out into the open, with clear language, which would then open the door for it being rebutted out in the open, with clear language, or:
They would have to side with with something more fair than "women and children first" ever was, like, for example, "children and parents first".
Which would be good.
Ask any divorced father.
I have one that says “Ill behaved women rarely make dinner”.
An orange can never be an apple. A female can never be a male. The equality argument is specious. Men and women are not interchangeable in the workplace. This nonsense about "equality" has degraded the workplace, degraded the effectiveness and efficiency of our military, and has degraded the men in this country. Colleges have and graduate more women than men. This nonsensical argument, bought by sissy men in the congress, has less than zero cost benefits to our culture.
It is time to take a look at the successful relationship between men and women in Mormon society, Amish society, Biblical times, and Muslim society, IMO. I am ready to revert to the 1950s when women were women and men were men. Any other argument is utter nonsense!
I didn’t read her article. Did she apologize for the left’s despicable treatment of a that female, conservative powerhouse Sarah Palin?
Reinstate the 1950’s and you’ll still get the 1960’s ten years later.
It used to be that only men fought in the military...
...and correspondingly, only men had the right to vote.
Depends on what aspects of the 1950s you institute.
Jim Crow segregation laws were not established in the “conservative” 50s. They were old Democrat laws being cast off.
The sexual revolution of Kinsey began in the 1940s as did the post-war skin magazines that begat Hugh Hefner’s Playboy (and Russ Meyer’s nudie cutie adults only feature films).
The Communists had been pushing for power in America since the revolution in Russia. The House Committee of Unamerican Activities was investigation their actions starting in the 1930s. The Cold War with the Soviets began in the aftermath of WWII, not as a result of 1950s policies.
I just watched a video of the Israeli ambassador’s speech at UC Irvine and I guarantee you that if a well fed feminist had gotten in front of that crowd they would roasted her, especially if she was jewish.
Yes I agree, but it stirs no emotion, it is as a poster above said, “a cash sucking machine” run by harpies well past their due date.
Fathers are portrayed as deserters or villains by default, and that is used as the rationale to rob them of their families, homes, and money.
Would you believe my synagogue had a “Feminist Seder”? I went, thinking it would be a traditional Seder, just w/the women of the congregation. It was a Women’s Lib celebration!! Then there was a speech about “being inclusive”. Ah,yes...we must accept the homosexuals! I hope I never see the day where an unrepentant homo gets the chance to be called up to read the Torah! Would an unrepentant adulterer be allowed to? People need to get it into their thick skulls that people choose to be gay, just like they choose to have sex w/someone who’s married,or someone who’s not their spouse.
