(WXYZ) - The FBI is confirming raids at the offices of three Michigan auto suppliers who do work for Toyota.
Search warrants were served Tuesday evening at Yazaki North America, DENSO International and Tokai Rika. Yazaki sells electronic components and DENSO makes accelerator pedals.
Denso has released the following statement about the situation "DENSO International America, Inc. (DIAM), U.S. subsidiary of DENSO Corporation, was inspected on February 23, 2010 by the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation and the U.S. Department of Justice in regard to U.S. antitrust laws. DIAM is cooperating with this investigation."

Did Government Motors put them up to this?

Were “representatives” of Government Motors and their UAW union-thug allies present at the raids? That's what this really is about, after all. Government-run auto companies can't compete on a level playing field, so the only option is to destroy the competition with criminal and civil action.
To: Kieri
The FBI didn’t raid anyone when Corvairs were rolling over.

Sounds like what Obama is going to do is put Toyota under so much stress that they fail, making more room for GM or make them submit to unionized takeover of their factories or both... how’s that for thuggery...
To: Electric Graffiti
No, no satire.
Somehow I doubt these suppliers are union shops.

What the f@#$???????????????????????????
over a QUESTIONABLE recall malfunction?
Government Motors is taking over.
I said it right from the start- Obama did not have to nationalize the auto industry- only one. then use the power of the government to drive the others out of business
I was shopping this weekend- many dealers said that new customers were telling them they refuse to buy a government car.
I wonder how sales are?

To: Anti-Bubba182
When the government owns GM, this is to be expected.
How absurd would the following headlines be?
“Owners of Toyota raid rival Ford”
“Owners of Exxon raid offices of British Petroleum”
But when the owners of GM do it, it is “legal”?

I was too young to remember the details concerning the gas tank explosions regarding some US company trucks — Chevy? I do think the automaker was hauled in front of congress to explain the design flaw. How does that case compare to what’s happening here?

When I dumped my Chrysler for a Ford, I told both dealers I would never own a car built by a company even partially owned by the government.

Now I’m wondering how Japan’s government will react. They can’t be comfortable with the US government getting involved, especially when Toyoda himself is answering to congress...I wonder what their feelings are about this?

Ummm, I hate to burst anyone’s bubble here, but (according to the FBI and one of the suppliers in question), this is part of an antitrust investigation, and is unrelated to the Toyota recall.
Is it really that hard to read the article before posting?

Wow. This is getting interesting...
What's interesting is that nobody wants to acknowledge that this is likely a union shop producing parts for several automakers. After all, this shop was probably in operation long before they started making parts for Toyota.
