Obama to Undergo First Physical as President

President Obama will receive his first routine physical since becoming president this Sunday at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Md., the White House announced today.

The White House will release the results later in the day to reporters.

Little has been known about the president’s past health. The last time Mr. Obama’s medical records were made available to press was in May of 2008, during the height of the 2008 presidential campaign, when he was given a clean bill of health.

But then-Senator Obama received criticism for the release being nothing more than a scant-one page summary for 21 years of care – completed by Dr. David L. Scheiner, MD, Obama's primary care physician since March of 1987.

In a letter released in May of 2008, Scheiner said that Obama has been seen regularly for checkups, his last being in January of 2007, and treated for minor problems like upper respiratory infections, skin rashes and minor injuries.
