A pointless gabfest
NY Post ^ | February 27, 2010 | Editorial

It wasn't really effective governance, and -- save for a few moments -- it wasn't even interesting television. So what exactly did President Obama's health-care summit actually accomplish?

Well, it turned out not to be the political trap that Republicans had feared. Instead, they got a nationally broadcast TV platform -- a forum they might not otherwise have ever received.

And the members of the GOP team clearly were prepared: Time after time, they scored telling points against Obama and Democratic Capitol Hill kingpins Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi.

Moreover, Obama himself looked less like a president than like the moderator of some small-town community forum.

Nor did he particularly help himself by taking cheap shots -- particularly at 2008 opponent John McCain, who rightly denounced the "unsavory" closed-door "deal-making" that bought moderate Democratic Senate votes to pass the health-care bill.

Obama came across as a jerk.

The Democrats, arrogantly overconfident as always, were convinced their side, led by Obama, would give the Republicans a public humiliation...

I think that this is the telling statement of the article.

It seems that the demoRats really do believe that they are intellectually superior to the Republicans and of course, their constituents out here in fly-over country.

They have awarded themselves so many medals, titles, and awards for parroting the party line in their books, TV, and movie appearances that they think we are incapable of understanding the high intellectual points of their blabberings.

What a bunch of dolts! They are in for a big surprise.

Obambi’s arrogant and lying way has been further exposed for those folks too slow to pick up on it thus far.

I thought it was worth watching; Paul Ryan was brilliant.

He snookered Ob by always prefacing his criticism with a compliment of sorts-like, we all agree people need help, we all agree rates are too high etc etc.

And then, after stroking Ob’s MASSIVE narcisstic ego, Ryan told him what he REALLY thought. And he did it numerous times!

Like petting a cat and getting him to purr before you give him a bath; before he knows it, he’s in the water.

It was awesome to watch.

You know they’re out in droves trying to dig up dirt on Ryan; he REALLY made the Dems look like the petty elitists that they are.

I was even glad McCain piped in and Ob was stupid enough to go after him like he did with the “I won-you didn’t” schtick.

Imagine the Patriots losing every game since they won the Super Bowl and everytime they were asked about a current game they lost, they responded with-”well, we won the Super Bowl-next question!”

So tomorrow will be interesting and who knows? They may spend all their air time talking about Desiree Rogers stepping down; her mandate was “instilling pride, inclusion and transparency” at the WH.

Oops.

I thought it was great too and disagree with the Post’s characterization. It’s one thing to tell people Obama is arrogant and shallow, it is another to get hours of it on tape.

I noticed the superiority of the dems when the most tragic story of all was told near the end of the morning session.

You know, the story about recycling the false teeth of a dead woman!!!!!

That last half hour was weird. I had tuned out and tuned back in to watch Beck. There was Obama winding it up and winding it up and winding it up...surfed away, came back and there he was droning on and on.

What makes him even more insufferable are the body movements. The finger pointing, the expansive gestures, the head shaking, the biting down on words and fake smiles as the end of sentences. Can't stand it. Liberals must go to some school to learn it. They all do it. You can tell who is a liberal and who is not with the mute on by the idiotic hand waving.

How about his whistled s’s? Every word ending in “s” has a little whistle on the end. You can tell he does it on purpose and that he loves himself for it. He probably thinks it’s distinctive.

Oh darn! Now I have another annoying quirk to notice. And I will notice too. It will bug the heck out of me the first time I see it.

There's been zip on ht news about this.

I'm guessing the Sunday shows are EITHER gonna clobber Obama or that Chicago politics will be in full force and the media are under threats.

Well, it turned out not to be the political trap that Republicans had feared.

Only because the Republicans saw it for what it was (yes, a damn trap) and out-thought / out-prepared the communists. They focused on what was supposed to be the purpose of the meeting and did not wait for the communists began the BS, the Republicans told them up front, making themselves "perfectly clear" to not make this a dog and pony show.

Subsequently, the communists were put on the defensive and could only repeat talking points, rhetoric and cheap zingers because they did in fact plan on presenting a dog and pony show. That is why the cameras were there and it was not being held in the recently much used meeting room that has “Democrats Only” CARVED into the normally locked door.

This should provide a working model of how the communists must be treated from now on as it is their very nature to be backstabbing, dishonorable, small minded and immature. They can only be trusted to lie and conspire to deceive the American Citizens as to their ever-ongoing push to communism.

lol — yeah, you’ll notice it for sure. Sometimes he sounds like that beaver character in the Disney movies. If it were just a quirk that he couldn’t help, it wouldn’t really matter. But you can tell that he has taken it and cultivated it and perfected it, and that he LOVES hearing himself do it and thinking about how distinctive it must sound to other people.

Every adult (defined as an individual over the age of 21 who has actually found a job and goes to work every day) has, at some time in their life, been exposed to at least one person like Odumbo. You just want to rip them to shreds and hate their guts but you’re stuck with them, in one form or another until you can get the heck out of the situation.

Yep, this is a clever use of NLP.

Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) explores the relationships between how we think (neuro), how we communicate (linguistic) and our patterns of behaviour and emotion (programmes).

I'm not being critical of Paul Ryan. As you say, he was brilliant. However, everyone needs to be aware of the use of NLP by politicians.

Tony Robbins, a master NLP teacher, was a frequent visitor to the Clinton Whitehouse and he coached bubba in the use of the techniques. One of Clinton's continuous uses of NLP goes something like this. When asked to respond to something that GWB had done, Clinton always starts with, "Well, I never criticize George Bush." Then he follows that statement with something like, "But, he is a stupid bungling Nazi, that deserves to be impeached."

In everyone's mind who is listening, the second part of the response wasn't a criticism because Clinton told them that is wasn't before he made the final statement.

Sorry, to go on so long, but I think everyone needs to know just how deceptive politicians can be.

And once again, I'm glad someone besides the demoRats has brought this technique into play.
