A pointless gabfest
NY Post ^ | February 27, 2010 | Editorial

It wasn't really effective governance, and -- save for a few moments -- it wasn't even interesting television. So what exactly did President Obama's health-care summit actually accomplish?

Well, it turned out not to be the political trap that Republicans had feared. Instead, they got a nationally broadcast TV platform -- a forum they might not otherwise have ever received.

And the members of the GOP team clearly were prepared: Time after time, they scored telling points against Obama and Democratic Capitol Hill kingpins Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi.

Moreover, Obama himself looked less like a president than like the moderator of some small-town community forum.

Nor did he particularly help himself by taking cheap shots -- particularly at 2008 opponent John McCain, who rightly denounced the "unsavory" closed-door "deal-making" that bought moderate Democratic Senate votes to pass the health-care bill.

The dems came with their “Queen For A Day” schmooze job on healthcare.

No prep with facts and numbers, just “stories”.

But, I tell ya, the Cry O’ meter went into full tilt when the false teeth story was told. I had to run for my Kleenex box.

That woman won the washer and dryer in that episode!

Wonder why they told the false teeth story. do they think that false teeth are included in their health care plan? I don’t think they are.

Republicans ripped him a new butt.

Yep, and he was so used to talking out of the old one.

That was part of the absurdity of the story. This plan doesn’t contain dental, or does it? Is it buried in that 2700 page bill?

I worked for a Psychologist for years-learned a lot-and I also grew up in a family of sales people. You can spot it immediately-and you’re right-it was clever and they all use it to some degree. Some use it for good but more than that most use it to lie, cheat, steal-whatever.

I’m glad it has a name-thank you for sharing that. You could study these people for a lifetime!

And I’m a rambler too-tend to write lengthy posts...probably a name for that too! :-)

“....It’s one thing to tell people Obama is arrogant and shallow, it is another to get hours of it on tape”

So true! I’m so used to seeing him ON tape, that never occured to me. It was gloriously revealing wasn’t it?

Kind of like the Naked Emperor at a fashion show telling people how to dress!

You could study these people for a lifetime!

If you haven't read "The Liberal Mind - The Psychological Causes of Political Madness" by Lyle H. Rossiter, Jr., M.D., you might find it very interesting.

Dr. Rossiter basically lays out the case that liberals are crazy from traumatic events that happened in early childhood; under age two.

The number one cause is abandonment by the father. Does that sound familiar? Think Clinton, and ugh, let's see who else was abandoned by his father... don't tell me. I got it, OBAMA!

They look to government as a surogate father, but I'm getting into areas where I'm not qualified. Read the book.

“Read the book.”...

Are you sure you’re not the Tea Party Leader?

If I get caught with the book, I’ll just tell “them” I was following orders...

Are you sure you’re not the Tea Party Leader?

I (we) started that when another poster LZ_Bayonet decided that everyone should claim to be the leader of the Tea Party. The thread was about how the drive-by media was attempting to identify the leader of the said party in an effort to neutralize them, along with the Tea Party.

So we decided, in the spirit of the old Kirk Douglas movie Spartacus, that we would all step forward and claim to be the leader of the Tea Party. He chose, "I'm the leader of the Tea Party" and I chose "No, I'm the Tea Party leader."
