Al Gore and his team of scientists are on their way to the quake area. Gore says that it is not too late to pay GW taxes which will keep the damage at a minimum but it has to be paid immediately, like NOW or 1,000 foot tidal waves are likely.

islands due to there topography (mostly) do not get hit with the highest possible wave height. Also one can not assume a higher mag quake automatically generates a larger wave, it has more to do with the motion of the quake then the mag. But a 40m wave is hard to believe without a serious landslide caused by a quake. If the ocean floor fell (or lifted) 40 meters I think we have more then a 8.8 mag quake, 20 or 30 feet seems much more reasonable.

I KNOW!!! I JUST GOT IT!!!

An Algore notice:

Because of those two icebergs at the South Pole that are loose and runabout (a West Indian expression) and changing ocean currents as we warned, the tidal waves will not be as severe as predicted. That is not to say these ocean currents will not bring desert conditions to the world because rains will now be redirected to unnecessary places like the North Pole.

“CNN’s crawler is saying 16ft waves to hit Chile’s shores. 16 or 60?”

Areas closest to the epicenter would see smaller numbers. It does not have enough time to build up the energy that causes teh 60 footers. That why Chile may have smaller waves that places hundreds of miles away.

Gosh, I have no idea. I have been able to just copy the address from the address bar of my browser and paste it into a post for years now. If I am using any special html commands to italicize or bold, then I have to use the a href command for a hyperlink.

“You should grab a copy of Larry Niven’s novel “Lucifer’s Hammer”...there’s a part that describes a surfer who tries to ride a mile high tsunami ashore until he sees a 25 story apartment building coming at him like a giant flyswatter...he’s going up so fast his nose is bleeding, but not fast enough...”

Thats a great book...time to reread it...pulling it off the shelf right now...

I heard on one report early this morning that Hawaii already has special buses running along beach-front areas for anyone needing transport out.

[Hw should be thankful that they don’t have Mayor Nagin in charge.]

Firefox extension: converter 0.9.3

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/2286 Converts either the selected measurement (via right click), or the entire page (via status bar icon).

Works well. Helps those who “come short” in this. Thank God.

Bush’s Fault, of course

I find the timing suspicious...

Tom Daschle is deeply saddened...

Awesome book. Picked up one day in the college library and literally could not put it down. Only other book to come close was “The Hunt For Red October.”

I think it is because you are using html in your posts, and not providing the right tags. If you do not use html a link should just show up. What browser do you use? If you use Firefox (which i much recommend), you can selected text, then right click on it, and select "View selection source", and then copy (ctrl and c) and paste (ctrl and v) that.

I do not know much html but for those who do not know, once you introduce html in a post them you will have to use < p> and (without the spaces inside) at the beginning and end of paragraphs, respectively.

To hyperlink a word i think you can use

< a href=” Paste URL here> then paste the word here, and close with< /a>, without ANY spaces in the coding, and the, or in the link.

And so you get this: Statistical_Correlations

From http://peacebyjesus.witnesstoday.org, pasted without html tags.

And, on a (sadly) serious note, how long before Hugo the Hutt in Venezuela blames it on the US?

you are so sweet to try to educate me and I thank you. Now the reality is at my age I do not want to learn anything more, ROFL.

With the computer I have had to learn and relearn so much, that I am just tired, then the cell phones, yuck. I just want to make a call. lol

I promise I will study this and attempt to get it down. I say too old, but I know you are never too old. I do use the (enclosed P) at the end of the paragraphs, but that is about all I know how to do.

My hubby refuses to learn anything, that way he don't have to do anything. lol, it is all up to me.

We were in Maui in 1986 when there was a tsunami warning. We had to evacuate our hotel, along with everyone else along Kaanapali Beach, and head into the sugar fields across the road. There were helicopters hovering and dire predictions of catastrophic destruction of all the beachfront properties. We sat there for hours and were finally told that a small wave had entered Honolulu Harbor and it was safe to return to the hotel. Needless to say, we were very apprehensive for many hours. My, then 12 year old son, thought this was probably the coolest thing in the world.
