Source: Younger Kennedy weighs US House run
Boston Herald ^ | 2/27/10 | Boston Herald

A top Massachusetts Democrat says one of Robert F. Kennedy’s grandsons is considering running for the U.S. House of Representatives.

Joseph P. Kennedy III is one of the twin sons of former Rep. Joseph P. Kennedy II.

The source, who demanded anonymity to speak about private conversations with the father and son, says the younger Kennedy is considering running if Rep. William Delahunt decides against seeking re-election.

Delahunt has been criticized lately for his handling of a 1986 shooting in Braintree by a woman now accused of killing three colleagues at an Alabama university.

Delahunt’s district includes Cape Cod, where the Kennedy family has a compound, and Barnstable County, where Joseph Kennedy III works as a prosecutor. The 29-year-old is a graduate of Stanford University and Harvard Law School.

Just say, “NO!” America has had enough Kennedys. It’s time to stop the insanity.

It looks like the Kennedy gene pool is down to some lint and a few scabs found in the filter.

from the Politico
Glenn Thrush: Will Joe Kennedy III replace Delahunt?
February 15, 2010

Will Joe Kennedy III replace Delahunt?

It may not be a Kennedy-less 112th Congress after all ...

Two Democratic operatives with New England connections tell me that local party officials are trying to broker an endorse-and-retire deal between 29-year-old old Joe Kennedy III, son of former Rep. Joe II and grandson of Bobby and Ethel Kennedy, and Rep. William Delahunt (D-Mass.).

Nothing has been decided, and the move is still in the discussion stage, the operatives say. Plus there are several other Democrats are said to have eyes on the South Shore and Cape Cod seat, including Plymouth Democrat Therese Murray, president of the Massachusetts State Senate.

But Kennedy III, a red-headed Harvard law grad and a Barnstable County prosecutor, has been raising his profile at local Democratic events in recent months and the retirement of cousin Patrick Kennedy (D-R.I.) has created an additional incentive, sources say.

As my POLITICO colleague David Catanese reports, Joe III is only one among a handful of Kennedy kids mulling over careers in the family business.

Delahunt, one of the GOP’s biggest targets in the Northeast, has given every indication that he’s thinking long and hard about a career change.

“Every election cycle, I take my time, I think it through, and I think, not about whether I can win or lose, but: ‘Am I in a position to make a difference?’’’ the Quincy Democrat said in a telephone interview with the Globe during the weekend. “Can I achieve what I want to achieve outside of public life?

Several Republicans, emboldened by the Scott Brown shocker, are gunning for Delahunt.

Just think, if Crook county IL hadn’t stolen the election for JFK, probably none of this would have happened.
