Should Democrats use the budget reconciliation process to pass healthcare reform, it would fly in the face of public opinion, Sen. Tom Coburn (R-Okla.) said in the Republicans weekly address.
Coburn, a physician who attended this weeks bipartisan healthcare summit at the White House, repeated Republican calls to scrap the current healthcare proposals and start from scratch.
Unfortunately, even before the summit took place the majority in Congress signaled its intent to reject our offers to work together, he said. Instead they want to use procedural tricks and backroom deals to ram through a new bill that combines the worst aspects of the bills the Senate and House passed last year.
The White House and Democratic leaders in Congress have said that they will move forward with their existing reform proposals despite Republican calls to stop.

This is an appropriate response to the arrogant Elitists in DC:
We owe our thanks to the Republicans that faced the enemies of America last week in the DeathCare summit.
We The People witnessed a national disgrace on the part of the President and his henchmen Pelosi, Reid, et al.
Oops, this is the video that I meant to post:
I resented the hell out of Obama calling Senator Coburn and the other doctors in attendance by their first names. He owed it to them to address each of them by “Doctor” at a minimum.
Obama is a classless POS. Petulant punk, who never should have been elected.
BUMP that video!
Very, very good. That can’t be posted enough. Great video. Thanks.
If the ‘RATS go to the NUCLEAR OPTION, they will pay dearly for it in November. Bring it on ‘RATS!
Dear President Obama,
“We The People” have stated resolutely we reject your vision for our country.
You claim you have not heard us. “We The People” have asssembled across America resisting your efforts to subvert our constitution and undermine our liberty.
You claim you have not seen us.
Since you have not acknowledged our message, let us here present it once more for if, as President Wilson said, a leader’s ear must ring with the voices of the people, the time has come.
Our greatest treasure is freedom. The absence of restraints on our ability to think and act.
The corrollary of freedom is individual responsibility. We believe in the power of the individual.
A few years ago President Bush said, “History moves toward freedom because the desire for freedom is written in every human heart.”
Let us add that we will preserve it only as long as devotion to freedom is expressed in the heart of our actions.
When President Lincoln dedicated Gettysburg National Cemetery he declared,
“It is for us the living to be dedicated here to the unfinished work which they who fought here have thus so nobly advanced.”
That unfinished cause for which out soldiers willing go to battle and for which so many have given their lives is a free United States of America.
It has been nearly one hundred fifty years and the work President Lincoln spoke of is not finished.
In fact, that work will never be finished. Freedom is the capacity for self=determinaton.
It is not an entity but a condition, and conditions change. Freedom can expand, yet so can it contract.
You promised change when you took office, Mr. President, but subjugation is not change we wanted or will accept.
You have expanded government violated our constitution confounded laws seized private industry destroyed jobs perverted our economy curtailed free speech corrupted our currency weakened our national security and endangered our sovereignty.
By compromising our nation’s cultural, legal and economic institutions, you are ensuring that our children will never achieve the same qualtity of life as we enjoy today.
Through generational theft you are robbing the unborn of opportunity.
This not acceptable. Not in America. We did not become a strong nation through hope but rather through self-reliance.
No one better understands the relationship between individual achievement, dignity and strength than our armed forces.
Through every war our soldiers have held this nation’s destiny in their hands.
They have not failed us. They cherish freedom enough that they are willing to die for it.
Our duty to them and to ourselves is to treasure freedom enough to live up to it.
We accept the challenge, Mr. President.
That is why we are assembling across the land to deliver our message to you as often and in every way we can.
Dismiss us at your political peril. Our great nation is a Republic. We will not accept tyranny under any guise.
Your policy to redistribute the fruits of our labor is Statism and will not be tolerated.
By our honor, Mr. President, we vow forever to resist coercive government in America.
Patriots will not stand silent as you attempt to dismantle the greatest nation on earth.
“We The People” will defend our liberty, we will protect our beloved country and America’s exceptionalism will prevail.
God Bless the United States of America!
We The People
The punctuation might be a little off as I typed it myself.
The people may very well have to defend their freedom at the most basic level, with the most basic methods.
Read into that what you will.
You betcha they’ll pay.
The question remains, “does Nancy wan’t to take her chances at remaining speaker, or throw them away by passing this monstrosity?”
A bump for tomorrow’s distribution to my mailing list!
I dont think they care. The crazies(leftist) have been after this gubmint takeover of healthcare since back in the sixties and further back to roosevelts days. This is as close as they have ever been and are not likely to ever have all three branches of gubmint again or at least in the foreseeable future so they figure what the hell, lets go for it.Remember they are leftist and its all about control over the people and nothing more.
You’re absolutely right, but if she had enough votes, the House would have already voted. FWIW, I think the House and Senate are trying to round-up the votes so they can ram it through.
Coburn should have called him Hussein in response. But there is something to be said for just letting Bambi look like an ass all on his own. Zero has no class.
Right. By saying nothing, a lot of people noticed.
That has been my thinking as well.If they had the votes this monster would have been reconciled already.Lets pray that more than a few rat congress critters really love the cushy gubmint job they are in and want to stay put and will vote against the bill.
Threaten to vote them out of office.
