Update: On Friday, the Unconstitutional UCAPA legislation advanced through Hawaii’s Finance Committee. Link to the testimony presented to the committee.

The committee approved the bill by a vote of 14 to 2 with one excused. The only two Republicans on the committee voted against the bill. All of the Democrats voted for the bill.

This bill has now made it through all of the committees and is on to a full vote in the House ! The vote will probably be early next week.

Voting against the bill were LynneFinnegan(R) House Republican Leader and Gene Ward(R) 17th Representative District.

Please thank them for voting against this horrible law.

Nice title - Horrible law

Their idea of preventing abductions means that a good parent who picks up their child’s school records can be accused of plotting their child’s abduction.

Its about a parents ex being able to request the police come and kick your door in at 3 in the morning to take your kids...

Do a search for Uniform Child Abduction Prevention Act to find out more about it.

I love stories using meaningless and not readily apparent abbreviations, so that I have to work real hard to figure out what is all about because you know I can read everything cover to cover that appears in front of me. I guess I am not a member of the cognoscenti.

"I guess I am not a member of the cognoscenti."

Neither am I.
It's kinda hard to figure out who "NCCUSL" is, and why they're pushing "UCAPA," whatever TF that is.
