LOS ANGELES—The Smithsonian Institution has rejected a donation of the suit O.J. Simpson wore when he was acquitted of murdering his ex-wife and her friend.

The decision announced Tuesday comes a day after a judge approved the donation as the solution to a long court battle over the clothing. Smithsonian spokeswoman Linda St. Thomas says the suit is not appropriate for the museum's collection.

One day the Smithsonian will also reject Barack Obama’s empty suit.

Maybe Ripley’s Believe it or Not Museum will accept it.
Worth a try, OJ.

It was a historic moment to me, as I realized by the reaction of my teammates (I was a football player at the time) how racist black people were.

I had worked with and around black guys since college playing football and we never had any racial anything (other than normal guys screwing with each other stuff); we were very much teammates.

It was really eye opening how much so many black people hated white people, such that they celebrated a killer getting free.

It was pretty much that momement my eyes opened.

So, in short, the suit would mean a lot to me.

Give it to noted wife-beater Charlie Sheen. He might be needing it.

Maybe a prison somewhere can take it for a released convict to wear after he finishes his term.

Or maybe the prison could keep it as "wardrobe" for when the prisoners appear in court.

Well, let’s start with there being something worth remembering about the man or event.

A celebrity killed his wife, and his lawyer was clever enough to confuse the jury enough to let him off. So? Nothing worth remembering, certainly not his suit.

Scouring the nation's golf courses and liberal's cocktail parties, in his relentless pursuit.

clever enough to confuse the jury enough to let him off

Don't forget the crucial role played by the incompetent star-struck judge, who allowed the defense to present a conspiracy theory with exactly zero evidence to back it up.

(A competent judge would have asked OJ's defense to present convincing evidence of the conspiracy - then getting none, would have explicitly banned any further mention of said alleged conspiracy. Oh well, this is what happens when you put idiots in charge.)

Perhaps the suit should be donated to a Hollywood Wax Museum,
where a wax OJ could be displayed next to Jack the Ripper.

Certain things have infamous value:

John Wilkes Booth’s Deringer

Charle Manson’s Beatles Album collection

Clown paintings by John Wayne Gacy

I’d put OJ’s suit in this category, if a less important item.

The gloves or the Bruno Magli shoes would be better, from a purely iconic collectible point of view.

Oh, sure, you could authenticate it easily enough. It's the chain of title that would be interesting. The theory was that OJ gave it to Bob Kardashian in the golf bag he brought back from Chicago, and Bob made it disappear.

Bob knew OJ was guilty and was counting on the jury to find him that way. That way he could say he helped his friend but that justice was done. Watch his face when they win. Shapiro and Cochrane are celebrating, but Kardashian looks like the foundations of the world have been knocked away.

Like I said, that's the theory.
