Hoyer: The Fix Is In For Health Care
IBD's Capital Hill ^ | 3/2/2010 | Sean Higgins

Democrats are considering pushing the health care bill through the Senate using a parliamentary maneuver that will test the boundaries of constitutional lawmaking.

House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer, D-Md., told reporters Tuesday that the leadership was mulling first passing a “fix” to the Senate health care bill, then passing the Senate bill it is supposedly fixing. The fix, in Capitol Hill-speak, is being called the “reconciliation bill.”

“We could pass the reconciliation first, have the reconciliation passed by the Senate and then pass the Senate bill,” Hoyer said.

This would reverse the usual order of passing a bill, then passing the additional “fix” bill. Hoyer said that while putting the legislative cart before the horse would be “more complicated,” it could be done.

This is a complex subject. But check out the Twister commercial and classic Marx Bros. scene. Best descriptions of what Democrats are doing that I've seen.

At some point all the tea party, town hall, etc protesters will have to agree to go to Washington when the date for this BS is to happen. 100,000 people all attempting to enter the capitol building at the same time can not possibly be stopped. Shut it down. Just shut it down.

You probably need to be ready to go at 11:45 PM on a Sunday evening. They don’t keep regular hours when pulling this kind of stuff.

This is what Democrats deserve.

Democrats (like all evil and wicked people) don't want God in the equation because they know that if He is considered, then they are accountable to Him.

They think they are unaccountable.

They are not.

They are accountable to God, our Constitution, and to the People.

I really hope that if they are thrown out, there are trials against them for their crimes.

No it couldn't. Not if the rules of the Senate are to be followed. Of course, for Dems, rules don't mean much.

Reconciliation Bills are only allowed to "correct" bills already passed by the Senate and the House and signed into law by the President. Without a Time Machine there is no way the Dems can abide by the rules and pass the reconciliation bill first. Can't be done.

So I give it only a 50/50 chance that the Dems will go this route. It would have to be a desperation move on their part. The law and the rules of the Senate wouldn't stop them but the blow back from the public just might. Get out the popcorn.

The House must vote on the Senate bill first. This is our best opportunity to kill this monstrosity.

Hoyer is nuts.

If this causes a mass exodus from the healthcare segment of our nation, will the Sen. pass a bill requiring people to remain in healthcare.

Good Point. These clever people are going to out clever themselves. If they do this, then when the Republicans regain control, everything will be on a simple majority....
