Williams came to a meeting of our women’s Pubbie group last year. Immediately became a hit. Would be so wonderful to have at least one conservative Senator in our state. Need to get rid of KBH and then Cornyn is next! Pete Olson is our Rep and he is awesome. Somebody needs to do something about Sheila Jackson Lee though. Am sure the Dims in Houston are going to be out in force for White. Houston Chronicle is in a big bind. The new mayor has some critical financial problems created by White and Out of town Lee Brown - Clinton’s friend and former mayor. They have to be very careful of their wording though since White is running for Gov. When White loses, my guess is that the Chronicle will take off the gloves and expose him. In the meantime will be interesting to see how they handle it - pretty funny.

“Today we call him Governor Rick Perry. Tomorrow, we may very well call him President Rick Perry.”

Rhino Perry as Governor is bad enough, thank you very much.

I really don’t know anything about Perry. I think the sleeper is going to be Pawlenty and maybe Scott Brown. Should be interesting.

Sarah Palin was great on the jay Leno Show. If she is smart she will get a daily talk show of her own where she can push the conservative political and cultural agenda.

Double major BA and two postgrad professional degrees. So yeah, I’ve earned the right to say most voters - i.e. most of the general public - are dumb. Now note that I did not specifically say that *you* are dumb, though as it seems that you missed that relevant distinction, there may be grounds to reconsider the omission.

Tomorrow, we may very well call him President Rick Perry.

Not my top choice, but he's surely better than Romney, Pawlenty, etc.

Perry is not perfect, but he is no Rino as some here think.

Some here think that every Republican is a "RINO."

I fail to see how voters are dumb in Texas. They had a Truther, a liberal insider from Washington and Perry. DeMint wasn’t on the ticket so they made the best of what they had.

And while we’re on the subject I’m not one of those freepers in this thread preaching Perry for President. We tried a Texan and he screwed us. I don’t believe Perry would be too far apart from him. Maybe the issues on which he diverged from the base would different then those GWB picked to battle us on, but he’d cause problems too I’m sure. This all said...really think people here are too hard on the guy. Texas is being managed better then most states in the union right now. I’m sure it could be better but really I hear more complaints about Perry here then I do my own Governor who cheated her way into a first term in WA state. Texans have it better then they think they do. Speaking as an outsider the chip on the shoulder is a little too large. Should try having ballots counted three times until they could rig a lightweight Dem to win then talk.

All the same while Perry might be on the shortlist with a re-election I don’t thnk voters are ready for another Govenor from Texas and neither am I.

The last Governor of Texas kept your sorry behind safe, the economy was not on the brink of disaster, the government didn’t own General Motors, and we could sleep at night. Our health care wasn’t in peril and the Bush administration was staffed with capable people that had been vetted unlike the gazillion freaking czars that are running our country in the ground before our eyes. Grow up.

You know a lot of us really like Perry here in Texas and really dont care what people who have no dog in the hunt think. All I know is physically, we in Texas are in a very enviable position compared to the other 48 and Perry has been at the helm all along.

They had a Truther, a liberal insider from Washington and Perry a liberal insider from Austin.

There. Fixed it for ya.

Hutchison is no more liberal than Perry on practically any given issue of state politics. On a few such as taxes she's actually more conservative than Perry, or at least has a record of being consistent about where she stands. She was the lesser evil in this election, and before the lectures start trickling in about how she's supposedly a baby-eating abortionist I will preemptively point out that (1) Hutchison has a career National Right to Life voting record in the high 90's, and (2) Perry appointed abortionist Justice Xavier Rodriguez to the Texas Supreme Court, where he immediately ruled to weaken the parental notification statute by liberally construing the exemptions.
