GOP's Big Lie: It's All About Reconciliation
Investment.com ^ | March 3, 2010 | Leftwing lunatic E. J. DIONNE JR

Posted on 03/03/2010 5:46:24 PM PST by Kaslin

For those who feared that Barack Obama did not have any Lyndon Johnson in him, the president's determination to press ahead and get health care reform done in the face of Republican intransigence came as something of a relief.

Obama's critics have regularly accused him of not being as tough or wily or forceful as LBJ was in pushing through civil rights and the social programs of his Great Society. Obama seemed willing to let Congress go its own way and was so anxious to look bipartisan that he wouldn't even take his own side in arguments with Republicans.

Those days are over. On Wednesday, the president made clear what he wants in a health care bill, and he urged Congress to pass it by the most expeditious means available.

He was also clear on what bipartisanship should mean — and what it can't mean.

Democrats, who happen to be in the majority, have already added Republican ideas to their proposals. Obama said he was open to four more that came up during the health care summit. What he's unwilling to do, and rightly, is to give the minority veto power over a bill that has deliberately and painfully worked its way through the regular legislative process.

Republicans, however, don't want to talk much about the substance of health care. They want to discuss process, turn "reconciliation" into a four-letter word and maintain that Democrats are just "ramming through" a health bill.

It is all, I am sorry to say, one big lie — or, if you're sensitive, an astonishing exercise in hypocrisy.

What a steaming pile of crap. What the author meant to say is that Obama is willing to enact his agenda with no bipartisan support, without the support of the American people and in contradiction of standard parliamentary procedure. In other words, the writer is happy that Obama is showing his dictatorial fangs. He was worried he didn’t have it in him.

They keep going, it may be sooner than they think. (Electorally speaking, of course...)

Sometimes I think they are deliberately pushing things that way.

Deliberately.

Hey, E.J.! You love socialism so much, how about you turn over all your money (which is substantial, from what I hear) to the government so that the money can be spread around among the deadbeats you so profess to love! E.J. Dionne, like 99.99% of all libs, is a frickin’ phony.

To the SOB that authored this piece of fascist garbage: UP YOURS, JACKASS! You, sir, are absolutely a clueless POS.

You are blind to the RAGE that is fomenting just beneath the surface of what you wrongly perceive a passive American population.

All hell is about to break loose. When it does, you and the bastards with whom you keep company, are all going to be swung from short ropes on tall trees.

AMERICANS WILL GET OUR REVENGE, SO HELP US GOD, WE WILL END YOUR POWER... ONE WAY OR ANOTHER!

Actually, now I am certain that Obama is dumber than he looks, and so are his supporters.

They appear, like Nancy Pelosy, not to have the slightest clue about the definition of "bipartisanship."

O'Bummer just today made the astonishing claim in his best undertaker voice, after rejecting the advice to 'start over,' "what good would do to argue about the details an additional year?"

So much for his grasp of the two simple words, 'start over.'

For all those who think that even when this gets done (and it will), that it can be un-done, you are sorely mis-informed. If that were the case, the Welfare State and Nanny-world we now live in would ALSO have been un-done, using your logic.

We are headed down the socialist path, and there will be no turning it around, save rebellion, pure and simple.

It this writer that stupid, or is the fact that Obamacare is flailing about turning the Obama-cheerleader EJ Dionne into a babbling incoherent moron?

This Bill has never been about lowering “Health Care Cost” or lower “Insurance Rates”.
It was written by SEIU for the benefit of the SEIU. It's a SEIU bail out.
Here's the deal. SEIU pension fund is in the tank. It is just months away of being taken over by the government and Andy and the Boys will no longer have control of it. Their cash cow will be gone. They can't allow that to happen. In the bill the SEIU wants anyone who turn retires (30 and out) at the age of 52 eligible for Medicare. Why? The pipefitter union is a good example. If you retire after 30 years, you still have to pay union dues if you want Health Insurance through the union plus you still have to contribute to the cost of health insurance. Part of the union dues go toward paying for pension. Example. Union dues, $100.00 per month. Retiree's health contribution, $100.00. Total $200.00 per month. If the Health care bill passes, Union Dues will go up but the total will be less than $200.00 per month. The difference will put the pension fund out of the government hands so Andy and his boys can raid it some more.
That's the game plan. That's the pay back.
The rest of the bill is window dressing.
Next on their agenda is a national pension above Social Security.
Andy and boys should be investigated for mismanagement of the SEIU pension fund.

I guess being LBJ II is a step up from being Carter II; this it does speak for somewhat lowered expectations on the part of the moonbats for that to be their ideal.

Obama said he wants an Up or Down Vote,he did not say anything about reconciliation. Demint is right that is a Head Fake, as soon as the House votes to pass the Senate Bill the Communist in the White House will sign it ,there will be no Reconciliation

The Reconciliation Bill is meaningless.

The 'up or down' vote will occur in the House and if the Senate version passes, it becomes Law.

That is where the majority aspect of our Constitutional system operates, the Senate is a check on it with the ability to filibuster.
