CINCINNATI -- A homeowner points and fires a gun at a man who was trying to break inside his home overnight in Delhi Township.

The homeowner says he wasn't taking any chances.

Police say he fired his gun as the suspect tried to break-in to his home in the 4400 block of Hillside Avenue around 1 a.m. Monday.

It appears the suspect targeted the home, which is located on top of a hill on a secluded lot near the intersection of Riverside and Anderson Ferry Roads.

Police did search the area with the help of K-9's, but could not find the suspect.

It does not appear the suspect was shot.

On the Westside of Cincinnati they don't call the cops, usually they just bury them and forget them. Most folks around there are one generation removed from Eastern Ky.

In eastern Kentucky (Morgan county) our relatives have commented that when someone approaches a house, they make their friendly intentions known a few feet back fromt he porch. The occupants already know there are people out front, and they had better be friendly. It seems like a good system.

“Delhi”?? I am curious how this township got its name. Normally lots of towns in America are named after the town the founders came from in the old country. So you get a lot of Cambridges, Paris, Milan even the odd Moscow.

But Delhi? Best I can tell, except for the Sikhs in California, no people from the sub continent came as immigrants to the US till the late 60s.

So real odd, it is called Delhi.

Odd random things interest me. Sorry if this post is odd and random

There is a tiny little town in SW MN named Delhi as well. Maybe there is another explanation.

I sure that no one in Delhi Township ever asked that question.

It’s pronounced Del HI, not “delli”.

Even the website doesn’t give a history of the name.

Delhi Township, near Cincinnati, Ohio.
