Wildlife officials killed a mountain lion yesterday that invaded a home near Salida, attacking five dogs and trapping a mother and two children.
The mountain lion entered the home nine miles northwest of Salida about 4 p.m. Thursday after it chased a small dog through a pet door.
Michelle Bese, 27, and her two children, ages two and five, were inside with four of her five dogs.

It is reported that the cougar had run out of food stamps and had to resort to desperate measures for food....
I guess they werent Redbones.
If that mountain lion was rabid, they’re probably going to have to sterilize much of the house. And get shots. And their surviving dogs will be in quarantine for a long time.
Some things you just don’t mess around with.
And these people didn’t have a gun, while living in this wild environment ...WHY?
Four shih tzus and Jack Russell ???? My first thought, exactly.
Gotta be impressed by those little Jack Russells. They ain’t afraid of nuttin’.
The cat was underweight by about 1/3 of normal, and wildlife officers can’t figure out why it would chase a nice sized bundle of food into a house. Huh.
Just finished “Beast in the Garden”. Really good non-fiction about mountain lions in and around Boulder.
I dont get any crap from the wife anymore about taking my 9mm on dog walks.
I used to live there. Great area until the libs discovered it. Bought up parcels of property surrounded by U.S.forest, built big houses, loved nature until nature doesn't love back. Liberals ruin everything they touch.
food desert?

This is about five miles from my house. The wiccans and buddhists and greenies Amen sister
have ruined for the rest of us folk.
BAD KITTY! BAD BAD KITTY!
I’m sure the little ankle biters did their best.
But sometimes one bullet is what is needed. Nature is sometimes a cruel Place.
I stopped watching discovery Channel back when they had all the shows about animals mauling each other. It should have been called the blood and guts channel.
“wiccans” oh my.
I wish there was video of that big cat coming through that small dog door. I guess when a cat is hungry enough it can crawl through anything!
Dem guys sharp as a bowling ball, dey are...
Probably after the little ankle biter challenged the cat. Then it ran home to Mommy.
There ya go. The limosine libs want to commune with “nature”, but what do they do, Build McMansions. Hypocrits
Been meaning to ask, is your middle name unsymmetric-dimethy or monomethyl?...
...these Cougar stories are pretty common west of the Mississippi...when they began to migrate east; look out....an exploding deer population and plenty of cover means lots of big cats to come...and btw, some reports indicate they’re already anong us in the Appalachian mountains.
I’m UDMH. Put me in the same room as nitrogen tetroxide or IRFNA and the sparks will fly! LOL!
Ah, you’re Russian?
Might want to look into a 10mm
Hell no! I’d rather be dead than Red!
there is a mountain lion roaming around the area where Maryland, Pennsylvania and Delaware meet. Neighbor’s horse has the scars to prove it.
...each year there are more and more sightings east of the Mississippi...the Feds deny the existance of a reproducing Cougar population(except Everglades)but yet the reports continue.
Probably ‘tards from California.
I lived in CO. for a year.
CA people do have an affinity for CO.
The comments on the website show how demented our society has become. Just like the sick comments after the otter story. People take the side of rabid animals and those that jump an 8 ft fence to attacking humans minding their own business.
