It’s a damn good movie. Politically correct Obama choice
no doubt.
I quit watching the awards many years ago since “Porky’s”
was not nominated for best picture,
‘Hurt Locker’ was originally released (in Italy) in October, 2008, before Obama’s election. It went into preproduction about a year earlier. Whatever led to its acceptance, the project was not a response to Obama.
Hi Lucius,
I believe people were referring to the attitudes of the Academy and critics, rather than the makers of the movie. While the movie might have been released earlier, would it have been as honored and awarded while Bush was President? That’s the question.
To be honest though, I have not seen the film and despite Hollywood’s leftist bias, I don’t make them all out to be one-dimensional code pinkers. If it’s a good movie, it’s a good movie.
Worse, IMHO, it was a boring film like another Oscar nominee, 2003's Lost in Translation. Both came and went with tons of applause but neither had much of a plot.
Started to watch the show, but it was so full of self-love, and pretty damn boring to match, that we just went to bed. These folks are really impressed with themselves.
Nice. I liked the movie. Some EOD techs say that it is not fully realistic but still liked it.
frankly the sandra bullock movie took cheap shots at gw bush
Oh brother. It was made during his presidency and what they did was funny. Lighten up...I bet you did not even see the movie.
Can you imagine, a family opening their home to a total stranger and immediately considering him a member of the family "condescending"? It is an amazing display of love and compassion, not condescension!
Here's a link to an excellent article about this situation: Blind Side v. Precious
What movie? The Blind Side most definitely did not. In fact it was one of the only movies I’ve seen recently that portrays Southern Christian Conservatives in a good light. Tim McGraw/Sean Tuohy in fact says something like “I never thought we’d have a black son before we met a Democrat”.
I’m glad Sandra Bullock won. She played a strong, unapologetic character and the movie portrayed conservative values: if you see a problem, solve it yourself!
Check my link in my previous post. The article is from Big Hollywood.
Haven’t seen Avatar so it may be unfair to say this based on the previews on TV but those characters and the world in which they live just don’t look real at all. It looks like a video game.
