A telephone is a fundamental right also...........if you have the money to pay for the service.

Cherry-picking those at the technological top of the world population is hardly representative of "all people around the world". To wit: almost 4 in 5 people around the world likely have little or no clue what the Internet is, much less why they would have a right to access it (which is an odd notion, as nearly all of human history is devoid of "the Internet").
Is cable television also a universal right?
Too bad that babies don’t have universal rights.
And even universal rights like a freedom of religion are non-existent in nations like Saudi Arabia.

Right of search and seizure regulated

Right to a speedy trial, witnesses, etc.

you do not have the right to retire, get medical coverage, own a car or house..or internet access.
The Internet is a man made do-hickey. Using it is a privilege, not an inherent right. You may have the right to publish, but not the right to another man’s printing press.
We used to have two phone lines. We had to pay an extra tax because Al Gore believed that poor kids had a fundamental right to internet service in their schools. To be paid for not just by him of course, but by everyone with two lines.
IIRC it was over 7 bucks a month by the time we shut off the second line.
BTW I believe taxpayers foot the bill for a lot of people to have cell phones under some govt program. Another universal right, I guess.
It was (is?) one of Algor’s dreams to put a net-connected laptop in every person’s hands. Naturally it would only access appropriate, tested, known-to-be true information, with no access to lies or contrary ideas. After all the debate is over.

It was Bill Gates’ dream too to put some kind of “durable” tablet computer into the hands of poor children in third world nations.

The Amish don’t use computers widely (you may find one here or there in some operational offices, but as a commuity they don’t use them). They seem to be doing ok.

The government is now claiming you do NOT have a right to retire on the money earned from your years of work.
- Inheritance taxes.
- Raising the “retirement age” to claim your Socialist Insecurity money.
