Culled out (NOAA eliminating recreational fishing)
ESPN ^ | 02/08/10 | Robert Montgomery

Morlock fears that "what we're seeing coming at us is an attempted dismantling of the science-based fish and wildlife model that has served us so well. There's no basis in science for the agendas of these groups who are trying to push the public out of being able to fish and recreate.

I know there seems to be many things to take the current administration to task on, but the total disregard for this important part of the middle class economic puzzle is frightening. Morlock, is not crying wolf here.

This fits into everything else they are doing. Keep people in the cities where they are easily controlled and don’t learn to think for themselves.

Keep pushing Barry. This guy is stone cold stupid. A lot of undereducated fishermen will only get their eyes opened when this come into effect.

I was out on the Atlantic this weekend fishing. This is ludicrous. Last year Obama closed down the Black Sea Bass fishery for 6 months. I have grown up fishing for those tasty bones and can tell you, over the last ten years, there has never been up and down the east coast, a time where they have been so prolific. It absolutely made no sense to close their cull.

Fishing, hunting, private aviation, motorsports... you name it, and FedGov now wants it gone, but they are sharp enough to do it incrementally and obliquely. How in the hell anyone with a hobby - other than the DC favorites of politics and/or buggery - can vote for statist goons is beyond me. The alligator may eat you last, but he is still going to eat you. Time to eat the alligator.

While focused on healthcare, the commies are stripping the truth and our freedoms away behind our backs. We accept one outrage and wait for the next. We have become too pacified and fearful to resist.

I am starting to believe that time has run out for the America we once knew.

I just found out, in MASSACHUSETTS, you need a license to fish AT THE OCEAN!

You need one for fresh water for years, but at the OCEAN???

Two weeks ago, there was a major march on Washington by those who's bread and butter are garnered by the fishing Industry.

Commercial and Recreational captains and crew from Maine down to Florida showed up in mass. They all left with the impression that their voice was not heard.

Like I said, they have already enacted laws, this is not a red herring!...lol

“They all left with the impression that their voice was not heard.”
Gee, what a surprise. This administration has been flipping the bird to everyone while blindly pursuing their agenda.

He is systematically trying to block every avenue of self-subsistence in this country...so we HAVE to depend on the government.

We have one, last chance to save this great country...in November; get everyone you know to vote for America...that means to NOT vote for obama.

Unless you like rationed food and gasoline (and healthcare), salary limits, and unemployment, you'd better help get this foreigner out of the oval office.

I spent three years in Europe...it's not that glamorous...we DON'T want to become them.

Exactly, that is what the Statist wants.

The middles class is self perpetuating and fishing is a major cog in that process. The money spent on recreational fishing for the most part stays within the class confines.

Can't have that in a socialist world, nope nope nope.

I find it hard to believe the admin could be this tone def. Maybe they would enact rules that take effect in 2013 to avoid the voter revolt related to this.

The economic fallout of crminalizing fishing on a massive scale would be severe. Boat manufacturers would go out of business. Boat owners would see the value of their boats plummet. The bait shops would disappear, along with their jobs. Fishing license revenue for states, which supports wildlife conservation and natural resource management, would disappear overnight.

I just can’t believe that anyone could sit in an ivory tower and try to outlaw fishing. Heck, even a move to national catch and release would generate a revolt.

Little drips like this could really cause a problem for the ruling class long term. People need an outlet for their free time.
