On February 18th at 12:29 PM, Steve Christopher submitted petitions containing approximately 2,750 signatures to the Ohio Secretary of States Office. The petitions were submitted to place Christopher on the Republican Primary Ballot this May. The signatures on these petitions were obtained by numerous circulators working to seat a common-sense conservative in the State of Ohio Attorney Generals Office. At the time of submission, a receipt for these signatures was given to Christopher. We have a copy of this receipt that can be sent to any media source upon request. The top portion of this receipt was filled out by an employee at the Secretary of States Office and was not filled out by Steve Christopher. The bottom portion was signed and dated by Christopher after releasing the signed petitions to the Secretary of States employee.
Steve Christopher has been running a grassroots campaign with the support of many conservative organizations. Christophers goal was to defeat Mike DeWine and give Ohioans a non-political voice in the Attorney Generals Office.
On Friday, March 5th, 2010, Christophers campaign started receiving phone calls and emails requesting comment that the Secretary of States Office disqualified his petitions for failure to obtain enough valid signatures. Apparently, the Secretary of States Office issued a press release containing work logs. These work logs showed that Steve Christopher had only submitted 788 total signatures, of which 638 were found to be valid. Since a total of 1,000 signatures were required to be placed on the ballot, Christophers petitions were disqualified. On Monday, March 8, 2010, confirmation was made with the Secretary of States Office that they released the information and that they claim to have only 788 total signatures for Steve Christopher. They are implying that Steve Christopher submitted 788 signatures for a position that required 1,000 total signatures.
Many volunteers were involved in the collection of these signatures, which were witnessed by more than just Christopher. At this time, Steve Christopher intends to continue his campaign while the campaign works with legal sources to rectify this situation. Somewhere in the process, approximately 1,962 signatures were lost or misplaced. There are many questions that need to be answered as to how or why something like this can occur in the Secretary of States Office. We believe the people need answers as to what has occurred with their signatures.
We will gladly talk with any media source requesting further information. We feel this is a serious matter that needs to be addressed.

Jennifer Brunner is as dirty as they come.
I bet most of the country wouldn’t consider Ohio as a dirty political state like Illinois or Massachusetts, but we are.
Back in college I dated the daughter of a Mafia boss that was one of Governor Rhodes fix it men. I even met Joey Naples who later ended up dead in a Cleveland alley.
A dozen years ago or so the feds indited most of the Youngstown government, including the dog catcher!! I remember a local mayor that got arrested for running a gambling organization. Lots of mob hits in Youngstown as Cleveland and Pittsburgh fight for control.
The mob runs this state. The Ohio river cities were the center of gambling and prostitution before Las Vegas got big. Pretty Boy Floyd and other gangsters lived and died in Ohio.
How convenient. Did Steve Christopher office make copies of the signatures?? That would have been the first thing I would have done.
Yep, make copies and get them notarized or otherwise witnessed before handing them over.
That’s how Obama won his first election to the state senate - he got everyone else on the ballot disqualified.
Are we becoming a banana republic? That must be the “change” that Obama promised and that all our enemies “hope” for.
the shenanegans never stop in Ohio....think of it as a minor-league version of Illinois
I can’t wait until the government starts managing healthcare.
Good idea about the notary. I wouldn’t have thought of that. I would have just made copies. Doesn’t a notary have to witness the signatures though?
“Jennifer Brunner is as dirty as they come.”
Yup. Hence she’s something of a rising star in Democratic Buckeye politics. :(
“The mob runs this state”
Look at quarter ton Jimmy and the whole Cuyahoga county crew.
Orgainzed crime and government are one in the same here.
An old man who lives down the road said, “It’ll take a revolution to correct the country’s pathway.” I’m not sure about that but it just could be.
I have a question - in such a situation where crooks are in charge - why would someone submit these petitions without first photocopying them? I realize that photocopies are not valid for submission for inclusion on ballot - but they would certainly be strong evidence before a judge.
Then again, maybe they did and are just holding those cards to see if they can get this fixed first...
Isn’t Ohio a union state as well?
I'm not looking for a fight but the history you are discussing is almost like talking about Al Capone and Chicago. I'm from Southwest Ohio and covered this area. Most of what you're referring to happened in Newport and Covington Kentucky anyway.
