LAS VEGAS (AP) — Democratic Sen. Harry Reid is seeking a fifth term in the U.S. Senate.

The 70-year-old Senate majority leader declared he wants to create jobs and help Nevadans through the economic slump as he formally filed re-election paperwork Monday in Las Vegas.

Reid is considered a target for Republicans emboldened by midterm GOP wins in Massachusetts, New Jersey and Virginia.

So far, Reid has two unknown Democratic challengers for a June 8 primary. Twelve Republican, Independent and other party candidates also have declared they are running.

The good news is that the rumors that Reid would step aside are not true. The bad news is that there's an ugly GOP primary going on, and the longer the GOP bloodys itself the better it is for Reid. Reid's defeat is a moral imperative.

REAGAN's LAST CAMPAIGN!

A great video!

Yes...and lot’s of wasted money running ads, etc. Reid will have MILLIONS to defend himself. I just don’t understand why conservatives are not more motivated on this one. Whatever Danny Tarkanian’s faults, his polling is better against Reid than any other candidate. Lowden by contrast not only voted for Harry Reid, but she contributed thousands to his campaign...how can the GOP stand for anything if it nominates someone who voted for and contributed to their opponent? Talk about the parties meaning nothing!

Maybe but I'm not sure a spirited primary is a bad thing. What you call ugly might just be called competitive. I'll admit that I don't know the situation, but I've seen this before in other elections and I'm not sure what you say is true. That said, I appeal to all Nevadians to get Harry Reid out of there. This is an absolute necessity to get the country on the right track. This man is one of the most horrible politicians in the history of the country. He must go.

Going through the motions. How does that adage go: 90% of life is just showing up? Somehow I don’t think it is operative in this case.

apparently the Tea Party candidate is of greater concern to a lot of people who want Reid to go down
Reid is giving all third parties in the race a plug hoping to siphon enough votes from the R candidate to win
only way he can win

Yep, that’s why the “Tea Party” candidate happens also to be of Armenian descent like Tarkanian. Splitting them every which way.
