Massa under investigation for allegedly groping male staffers
Washington Post ^ | March 9, 2010 | Carol D. Leonnig

Former Rep. Eric Massa (D-N.Y.) has been under investigation for allegations that he groped multiple male staffers working in his office, according to three sources familiar with the probe.

The allegations surrounding the former lawmaker date back at least a year, and involve "a pattern of behavior and physical harassment," according to one source. The new claims of alleged groping contradict statements by Massa, who resigned his office on Monday after it became public that he was the subject of a House ethics committee investigation for possible harassment.

Massa had said that the allegations were limited to his use of "salty language" with his staff. He apologized for making some inappropriate comments and argued he was being unfairly villified. Days later, Massa accused the White House and Democratic congressional leaders of trying to oust him from office to improve their chances of passing health care reform legislation. Massa could not be reached for comment Tuesday, and no one answered the phone at his home in New York or his campaign office. Staff at his former congressional offices declined to relay messages to him and said they did not know how to reach him.

And the Democrats saw no irony in paying tribute to the late Studds (who had the unfortunate timing of dying in fall 2006, years after he’d left office) during the Foleygate “scandal” where Pelosi’s troops accused him falsely of molesting minors.

This isn’t about his after hours behavior. That is normally celebrated among democrats.

It does however fit the emerging pattern of democrat leadership to eliminate opposition from within and reward those who go along.

That was because the page was not complaining but a willing, of-age participant ... and in good part due to the Republican leader, Bob Michel asking the disciplinary action be toned down from expulsion to censure.

Rush himself said that Massa is a looney leftist. Which is why Rush wants Massa to remain in office (in addition to his voting NO on Obamacare, a stance which Massa holds because it DOESN’T have single payer provisions).

This guy may be a complete DB, but there are a suspicious number of caller to talk shows today giving the ‘inside scoop’ on how messed up Massa is.

I've noticed this as well.

Studds' victim was NOT of-age.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gerry_Studds

He was 17. What was the age of consent to abnormal sexual relations back in 1973? Was same sex sodomy legal in Massachusetts in 1973? Between a minor and an adult?

If true, then Massa is criminally stupid.

Only the truly deranged don't understand that a yes vote on this bill is the necessary first step in a process that will culminate in a single payer system.

In 2006, the Mark Foley page scandal brought Studds’s name into prominence again, as media pundits compared the actions of Foley and Congress in 2006 to Studds and Congress in 1983. Studds died on October 14, 2006 in Boston, at age 69, several days after suffering a pulmonary embolism...

(and Congress mourned his passing at the same time they were railing against the Republicans’ culture of corruption going into 2006’s November Democrat sweep of Congress).

He was certainly much younger than the page Mark Foley sent text messages to, for which he (Foley) was pilloried for months on end.

I stand corrected — my understanding was that he was 18, but I do believe it was his public statement about how much he cared for Studds, the on-going relationship that had so many Dems refusing to admonish him.

And why Bob Michel's assistance in lightening the disciplinary action is so marked -- the double-standard isn't just the Dems get to and the GOP doesn't. Why is it that people always bring up Studds and Frank and never mention Michel's role in things??

No surprise.

I don’t think the point of the Massa incident is that he’s being wrongly sent to swim with the fishes. I think the teaching point here is that, when you play the Chicago Way, they hit you, you hit back twice as hard.

Even if he’s deliberately lying about every last detail, Massa is showing the nation and the Rats in particular what happens when you go down the back ally, the Chicago Way. Somebody (Massa) is going down, doesn’t matter why, he’ll pull out every dirty trick he knows to take you down with him.

That’s the legacy of Obambi. It’s Obambi that brought the Chicago Way into the White House and it’s Obambi that’s going to get caught up in his own Rat gang wars when the street thugs from the other side of town start hitting back at him.

Would anyone have given Massa’s claims the time of day had Obambi not already shown himself -— by the way he does politics and, especially, by the way he has treated the American people’s concerns about how he does politics -— to be someone who will do ANYTHING to get what he wants?

...allegations that he groped multiple male staffers...

Cripes. The 'Rats have their knives out for this guy over something like this? If so, they'd better cut the schwang off of Bawney Fwank for having a male prostitution ring operating out of his house in DC, or fry Charlie Rangel for breaking every tax law on the books, or crucify Patrick Leahy for blowing the cover of CIA agents and having that lead to their being assassinated, etc.

Compare to how fast and efficient was the decision to relieve Rangel of his chairmanship after an actual finding by the ethics committee.

Right.

We need an investigation of all the democratic leadership, to find out who knew about this, when they knew it, and why they didn’t act last year to stop it.

Oh, yes, isn't this what the Rats demanded when Mark Foley was found texting interns.
