There is a new national ID card being proposed in the Senate as part of the left's latest attempt to import 15 million new Democrat voters (illegal immigrants) that will contain the fingerprints and other personal information of the person it belongs to.

How does it differ from a passport?
A better question would be, "how does it differ from an internal passport?" These were traditionally the hallmarks of the most oppressive regimes.
As regards to illegal immigration, it will have no effect on folks doing cash jobs. It will have no effect on criminals who come here to ply the drug trades and you can bet those without cards won’t be cut off from public benefits.
IMHO, a national ID card will resolve more problems than it creates.
OK, how does it differ from an internal passport and a SSA number?
“Believe me, a national ID card will start to expand far beyond just working.”
No question. Also, there will be fraud connected to them, as always. Further, illegals will continue to be hired and paid under the table.
Bottom line; once again, honest citizens get the hassle and the bill while the govt does dick, and the criminals skate.
I like reason number 4. The Democrats support it. If you go by that rule of thumb on most legislation as a reason to not support it, you’ll be far better off.
If they want to crack down on illegal immigration, enforce the existing laws. Have ICE start cracking down on employers of these illegals. I’m tired of hearing employers making excuses why they are hiring illegals. Get them work visas and then hire them.
"Moved, Left No Forwarding Address"
Not by much!
Passports don’t contain fingerprint info... at least not that I’m aware of.
How would this ID be monitored? What assurance would they use to see that everyone had one, and it was accurate?
I don’t believe they do.
I heard that DNA and Fingerprints will be stored on the chip.
What is to stop anyone from hacking the system or mutating the chip?
Maybe we should insist that it be shown to vote.
>I’m all for it. It’s the only way to get a handle on illegal immigration and fraudulent voting...
Not quite. Individual states could implement their own voter ID validation schemes. {That would take care of a lot of the fraudulent voting.}
The militia & armed forces could be called on to “get a handle on illegal immigration,” or as the Constitution put it “repel invasion.”
>Of course the criminals would begin counterfeiting them but that is another issue.
This is another reason NOT to have a federally accepted all-states-must-use identification, ONE break in the system (that s high-quality forgeries) invalidates the system over 50 states!
>I heard that DNA and Fingerprints will be stored on the chip.
2 seconds in your local microwave would solve THAT particular problem. The physical properties of the card would remain intact, but the chip would be FRIED!
A national ID card is a license to exist. You don’t have your card with you, you’re illegal.
Renewed my driver’s license in Texas last summer and they took my fingerprints - assume it is now stored on the chip. My grandson got his first passport and they also took his fingerprints.
You need your chipped ID passport card to cross the Canadian or Mexican border, or to hop a boat to the Bahamas.
You will need the chipped national ID card to be legally employed and provide sustenance to yourself and your family.
A national ID card is a license to exist. You dont have your card with you, youre illegal.
Except that they plan to give it to all of the illegals too, so at the end of the day you won’t be able to tell us apart.
Lindsay Grahmnesty is getting so bad that the ACLU’s position on this makes them sound highly Patriotic by comparison.

ANYONE who supports a National ID Card is in desperate need of a hard-core history lesson. It becomes a license to exist, an internal passport, begging the government for permission to do anything. Instead of "yeah, good idea" it should be THE LINE ("dig 'em up, Claire!").
Proof that it's not about employment or voting.
“I’m all for it. It’s the only way to get a handle on illegal immigration and fraudulent voting.. Of course the criminals would begin counterfeiting them but that is another issue.”
Do you really think the Democrats would make people show this ID when voting? What about the poor and elderly who cannot afford to go out and get their new ID?
As for illegal immigration, I doubt it would help much. We don’t enforce our current laws. How much different would not carrying a card make things?
Just watched The Reader and The Pianist this past week..I know I am a little behind the times. One wonders how the German people came to accept such a destructive and oppressive government. The only answer I could come up with was incrementally. Small infringements on one’s freedom are accepted as necessary. Do we really want to continue down this same path?
I’m confused. Haven’t the liberals been dead set against any kind of national ID card in the past. Seems to me I’ve heard for years that it would be discriminatory to minorities and immigrants. Now, when it suits them, we’re hearing talk of a national ID card.
Don’t worry, the one thing it can’t be, and won’t be used for, is at the polls. The Dems rely almost too much on fraud.
They will say it is discrimminatory to check ID at the voting booth and would hurt minorities.
However, the real reason far such a card is that it can control you and your ability to work.
Their motives are evil. Just like health care. They don’t care about your health, they care about power.
Sounds like a potential nightmare, the kind of thing they make movies about.
Then, when it was checked, it would be discovered as defective and you’d probably be detained until a proper ID was made on you. Sounds like more of a problem.
My current passport doesn’t have a chip, good ‘til 2015.
All good points,I would assume the ID would be free to all citizens and yes Everyone would have to show them to vote because there are always Republican workers that help out at voting stations.
I find it funny that now there is a system to stop illegals getting jobs that puts discomfort on the General Public then its considered oppressive but strapping employers with the responsibility of weeding out illegals is OK.
Sounds like that old saying about whose Ox gets gored...
1) Evil liberals well set this up to fail, initiating a physical mark on your forehead or right hand.....THAT is foolproof they will say...."its for the children".
Theyll use it to check your meds, your child support payments, use it to scoop money from your bank account, check your credit history, your medical history, access the commercial and government databases. What a horrible life! How far we have fallen. I dont give a damn for myself (Im old) but my poor kids!
Not true, if I drive from my home - in the USA, to visit my parents at their home - also in the USA, I have to present my passport at least twice.
For me, no big - I have a passport - for the small kids, a PITA.
I have often said a NAtional ID makes a lot of sense to mnay people
YOu can use it as a driver license
You can note of the person on the card is an organ doner
You can not blood type and any medical alergies
You can even note of they are a jew.......
So, ya, no thanks.
Amen! Very well put, quite succinct! There are many examples of this in practice in today's world. The silly steps added to buying an OTC cold remedy with pseudofed is a prime example. What used to be a relatively simple way to handle the common cold or an allergy attack has become inconvenient to say the least.
We are getting nearer the national ID with the passing of the law that requires states to standardize drivers licenses. Florida is one of the first to make the move. Renewing one’s license is no longer the simple process it has always been. Starting this year you have to make a trip to the DL office and provide four different things to get or renew your license. I know why it's being done, but like everything government gets into as a monopoly it can only end up one way and that's as a giant PIA.
IMHO it would be much easier and more effective to simply SEAL the border with Mexico. Lots of jobs would be filled by setting up an effective means of controlling our borders, more so southern than northern, but stopping illegal entry is where the quest has to begin!
I am against the idea of a national ID card, but I might relent and go along with it IF they made showing it a requirement to vote or even get a absentee ballot. It’s a close call, but I think I could be persuaded.
Maybe.
In the Communist countries you had to carry your internal passport AT ATLL TIMES and to be caught without one meant going directly to jail. I saw that happen.
The internal passport had the following information: your photo, name, address, date and place of birth, parents’ names, name of your spouse and childrem names of ex-spouses, every place you ever worked, and your prsion record or lack of one.
“Number One Reason to Oppose National ID Card:
The Democrats want you to do it. “
#2...Rino Lindsey Graham wants you to do it!
Just as they don't enforce it now. It's all about building bigger and more intrusive gubermint and creating more bureaucracies to employ more gubermint union workers. Nothing more. **U.S. Cant Trace Foreign Visitors on Expired Visas ** http://www.nytimes.com/2009/10/12/us/12visa.html?pagewanted=all
“Your papers, please” rings well on this thread
But, but, but then the ACLU would say it leads to voter suppression.
I’m more inclined to believe they will not enforce any law -just as it is not really enforced now:

Google: Nazis IBM holocost.
Technology used to track a population has never ended well.
“I would assume the ID would be free to all citizens...” Why in the world would you assume that, and so what if it was? You want a dog tag join the army.
