Eighties teen idol Corey Haim died Wednesday morning of an apparent drug overdose, according to Los Angeles police.
The Canadian-born actor, who starred in "The Lost Boys" but was probably best known for his roles with fellow actor Corey Feldman, was 38.

Truly sad, the culture of hollywood as it is, destroys more lives then it ever helped.
How sad. Only 37, but his prime was far, far behind him. May he rest in peace.

Oh gimme a break. He was a notorious drug user from the time he was a kid.
He was an 80’s teen actor that starred in “the Lost Boys” along with his best bud Corey Feldman and was in other teen movies too.
Yeah, I saw that part. So he was in one movie 20 years ago with a slightly more famous person named Corey. Why is this even news?

There was a reality show with the two corey’s a few years ago. I watched an episode and, yes, it sucked. Haim’s behavior on the show was that of a child. I’m not surprised by this at all.
He did a nice turn in “Murphy’s Romance” with James Garner and Sally Field, filmed just south of Phoenix.
The funny thing about that movie is that it romantically depicted small town Arizona life. They left out the state prison just out of camera shot and the related side effects of have a state prison in your small town.
Should have been “Murphy’s Prison Romance” with James Garner as the lifer crime boss and Corey Haim as the fresh “fish” in prison. Disgusting, yes, but more realistic than Murphy’s Romance.

I had more than one pic of this guy on my wall when I was a kid. He was a real cutie, and a decent actor, to boot. I hope he had people in his life who loved him and will miss him.
And yet, unlike Farrah, he’ll probably be mentioned during the “In Memoriam” part of next year’s Oscars.
Displayed symptoms of sexual abuse, which is the norm for young men in Hollywood.
“The Lost Boys” was one of those can’t-really-classify hits, like “Army of Darkness.”
He was a cutie and made some good movies. It’s a shame some can’t handle the fall from stardom and get caught up in the drug culture.

Really sad, but I can’t say I’m surprised. My prayers for his family and those who knew and loved him.

He was a waste. I’m not at all surprised by this. I saw the show he was on with Cory Feldman (”Two Coreys” on A&E).
He couldn’t get past starring in “Lost Boys” and being a child star “victim”.
No surprise. He’s been trying to OD for years. So many child stars end up messed up or dead.
a Death of anybody is a tragedy, regardless of the circumstances. I would hope we should all have compassion and empathy for someone like this who clearly struggled with his demons. How sad of a life it must have been for him.
He had a lot more money than I do but I would not have traded places with him...
I think only girls liked Lost Boys. Most of the women in my age group (also Corey’s age group) love that movie, I barely managed to sit through it once. Good soundtrack though.

He was very empty from what I saw from the show he was on. He kept referring to the girls he dated as a teen (Alyssa Milano, Nicole Eggart(sp)like they were part of his popularity. It was really pathetic to the point of not deserving sympathy
His parents let him run wild and make his own rules, blow his money,according to his own Mother, at the age of 14 when he was on top.
She wanted him to enjoy his fame. She was partly responsible for his life running aground.
By comparison, Corey Feldman's parents spent his money and sucked him dry, kicking him out when he protested to being a regular on Hollywood Squares. But he picked himself back up. Corey Haim didn't.

I think it’s the script and plot that made Lost Boys terrible, most of the actors have proven to be fairly capable, but damn that story was just dumb.
I’m one of the few people to like that film.

I was in a prison town in NY State recently. The “resident visiting spouse and family” culture was evident. Imagine what an impact the families of convicts would have on the local school system. The convicts probably out numbered the rural locals ten to one.
This guy isn’t famous. I doubt 1 in 10 Americans have ever heard of him.
I liked Lost Boys, loved the soundtrack. AoD was great.
Everyone between the ages of, I’d say, 30 and 40 know who ‘the two Corey’s’ are. Their parents do as well since they had to schlep us to all their silly movies!

What are the odds that this guy makes the Oscars “In Memorium” montage next year? Farah Fawcett didn’t make it this year.
Truly saddened to hear about Mr. Haim’s death. Much too young. The price of fame can be very high, indeed.
Corey Haim starred in many movies, but I feel his best is LUCAS from 1986. It’s one of the smartest “teen movies” and has a real heart.
