The U.S. Department of Education (ED) intends to purchase twenty-seven Remington Shotguns...
Place of Delivery: U.S. Department of Education Office of Inspector General c/o: Gary Pawlak, Special Agent 500 West Madison Street - Suite 1414 Chicago, IL 60661
I would say you had all better get current with your student loan payments, fast...
Yeah, read "Unintended Consequences" by John Ross.
Make a list. Become Henry Bowman when the time comes.
No more sugary soft drinks for you, Citizen Student!
Very simple. They need them to keep the ‘students’ in line at the re-education camps.
They’re buying them so they can melt them down and make a swing set.
Kinda late ain`t it? Some teachers in Oakland, CA been packin` since 1970`s
Read Harrison Bergeron by Kurt Vonnigut.
Pawlak and his buddies have a big hunting trip coming up—safari—that the taxpayers are funding, too!
You think the way they’ve been spending recently they’d have bought Benellis.
There was a story about the IRS buying up a bunch of shotguns about 2 or 3 months ago. But the Dept of Education? What the hell is going on?
Spare the rod [12 gauge, that is], spoil the child-This is typical Chicago educational incentives to advance learning.
Just equalizing with da punks....
Well, naturally I’m in favor of marksmanship programs for the tykes. That’s what this is, right? Right?
Crackdown on home schoolers?
Possibly for this....
I actually made a joke here on FR several years ago about how we’ll know America is doomed when the US Dept of Education finally has it’s own tactical S.W.A.T. team.
I called the regional office IG special agent to inquire and am awaiting a call back.
Pls post a follow up. Its hard to imagine what they’d need 27 for...or even 1. Isn’t this the same anti-gun crowd who convulses at the mere mention of FAs and would put kids out of school for even mentioning them???
must be compatible with existing ED inventory...
How many 14 barrel entry shotguns do they have already?
Missed that...so what powers does the Dept. of Ed have that they’d need FAs? To my understanding they have no police powers.
Someone has to man the re-education camp guard towers...
The list, ping
For trap and skeet class?
Probably need bigger guns, the sort to hit airplanes as idiots try to fly them into government building.
The word I got was that these are for the Special Ed staff at the John Dillinger Maximum Security High School in Cicero...
Guess it wasn’t really a joke.
Special Agent???????? Seriously.......WTF?
As a side note there hundreds of EPA officials who are designated as LEO’s and carry sidearms. They also receive a 25% pay bump and are eligible for retirement after 20 years.
But there’s a ban on firearms in the city of Chicago, don’t you remember?
So how can this be?
I guess it’s possible they intend to start educating our young citizens.
Naaaah. That can’t be it.
Can't they just use imaginary shotguns? Apparently, they are considered the same as a real one by certain "educators".
Every fiefdom needs its own army. I was always amazed at the number of police entities in DC. Some have very broad areas of interest like Postal and AMTRAK.
No kidding, huh? Totally believable. I'll bet that's one tough crowd of teenagers. Easy to lose your lunch money there, I'd bet.
I'm baffled, too. The 870 is a great shotgun, but I wouldn't want to go into combat with one unless it was all I could get my hands on. It probably is the least expensive model though at $357.99.
The great body of our citizens shoot less as times goes on. We should encourage rifle practice among schoolboys, and indeed among all classes, as well as in the military services by every means in our power
Thus, and not otherwise, may we be able to assist in preserving peace in the world ...
The first step in the direction of preparation to avert war if possible, and to be fit for war if it should come is to teach men to shoot! -Theodore Roosevelt
However, it should be adequate to control a crowd of 4th graders on a field trip.
What about the No Tolerance Rule? Or is that just for us unwashed peasants?
"Laws for thee, but not for me."
I was thinking more in the price range of those “bespoke” Holland & Holland over-and-unders...
Obomanomics. Rumor has it the economic sh#t is going to hit the fan. Maybe they're planning on protecting their own families and goods at our expense, OR, joining the army of the antichri....er......government... who's going to try to control the tribulati....er.....chaos.
This is one of the more unusual headlines I have read recently. :)
I did speak with the special agent in charge of the Chicago Office of the Dept of Ed Inspector General office. The work of the IG office includes investigations into fraud and misuse of Dept. of Ed funds. This takes them into environments where they must deal with the criminal element including some bad actors who are armed. Like many others here, I had a hard time connecting the dots between shotguns and the Dept. of Ed. but it is easier to understand in the context of a mandate to investigate criminal fraud.
You are a prophet! :)
